Dyv -- Do you seriously ask how we benefit from having Saddam not control Iraq's oil resources? From potentially placing Allawi (hand-picked by the Bush team) as the Iraqi President?
You say that Iraq was invaded due to humane reasons? That was only used as the reason after the WMD were not found. If Bush went to Congress and sais, "we need to invade Iraq for humane reasons," I have no problem. If he said it needed to be done because we are overdependant on oil and he could threaten the world economy, then OK. The problem is the story kept changing.
I keep watching the country's #1 news channel (Fox) and I just can't find that liberal bias you are talking about. I keep reading the country's top two newspapers (and I dont really consider USA Today a real newspaper) and I find one that is shockingly liberal-biased (NYT) and one that is schockingly conservative (WSJ). I listen to the top-rated talk radio programs (Rush and Hannity) and can't seem to find the liberal bias. I would listen to Air America if I could find it on the dial. I read the most-trafficked "news" website (Drudge) and can't find the liberal bias. Are the network guys biased -- probably, but each year their impact (and ratings) decline. I see a news media that allowed Bush and Kerry alike to misstate and misrepresent both their opponents views and facts. Would a lberal media allow Bush score points and laughs by asking "Want some wood," when in fact he did have an ownership stake in a timber company and did take a tax deduction as a small business owner. The truly liberal-biased media (Salon.com and some other lefty outlets) had a field day with that. But not a peep on the network news.
Tell me that the media is by and large irresponsible or that it doesn't do a great job of being fair and balanced, but you can't just steamroll over them as being liberal when that just isn't true.

So many misstatements by Bush that a liberal media would have crushed him. And so many misstatements by Kerry that the ballsier conservative media did have a field day with.
And finally, is the best way to fix an NSF that you think is broken to take money away from it? When you run the government and contol both Houses of Congress, shouldn't you be empowered to create a better fix?

How do we benefit from having invaded Iraq (outside of the obviously safer world). What does the U.S. gain?

I believe the invasion was justified for a host of reasons, including the suspicion of WMD, the capability of producing WMD and especially to eliminate a man as evil as hit ler. I did NOT say that Bush said any of those things.
The problem is the story kept changing.
Mine has not. Please don't mistake my support of our invasion in Iraq as the same as being a Bush apologist. I am not.

I was referring to your reaction to the NSF budget being reduced. It seemed your reaction "an absolute travesty" to the Government rolling back some of the 30% increases in budget to the NSF was something someone fed you (i.e. hey, they just slashed the budget reads differently than this rollback gives them only a 25% increase in budget the last 4 years). I think most of the media has gone from 'here are the facts' reporting to trying to tell me how to think. It's ridiculous and unwelcome. I want the facts and the sides and I want to make up my own mind on how I feel. You can't find the liberal bias in MOST of the media? Ok... nothing I can do for you then. We can agree d=to disagree on what's really being said if you like.

I've read many of those before... but as I said, you've mistaken me for a Bush apologist and trying to prove to me you don't like Bush. I don't need proof of that you are welcome to despise him as you like. I don't much care for him either. I'm not interested in defending Bush.
And finally, is the best way to fix an NSF that you think is broken to take money away from it? When you run the government and contol both Houses of Congress, shouldn't you be empowered to create a better fix? The problem is I'm 110% supportive of a SMALLER government across the board. I don't think throwing more money at the NSF (especially given their penchant for wasting it on stupid things) is any positive thing at all. The way to fix the IRS is to double their budget? Think about what you said here... if it's broke, throw money at it? Ridiculous. The NSF can manage just fine on their monsterous increases the past few years and waste 50% of their budget on garbage. I do NOT equate the NSF to education in our country as you appear to...
The problem at the NSF is poor management and a fouled up vision of what they should be doing. Money won't solve that.

Dyv -- I think you are missing MY point. Here it is carefully laid out -- what I think on the three most important topics facing our nation today:
1. Random Draft order is no good.
2. Points is more important than head to head.
3. It's not fair that someone should get a Manning autographed item one week, when some poor shnook gets a Tim Couch autographed item the next.
So there!

So there! Agreed all around, lol
My winning week was a Troy Aikman autographed photo. I envy someone who won a Tim Couch item - at least you know going in that you don't need to keep it
This Aikman photo is actually very nice.
Let's start a campaign for better weeklies!
