I think where most problems will lie is positions..example Lebron James...guard or forward....etc..etc

I've never done NFFC or NFBC but def. thought about it. Basketball is my #1 sport and I wouldn't think twice about doing a high-stakes contest.

I'm jonesin for hoops. I just checked this site right now on a whim hoping to see this exact thread!

Us West Coasters always get screwed on early drafts. 10AM on a Saturday is too early to decide between say, Rashard Lewis and Peja. Push it back 2 hours and you have a deal.

4) Online Site: It's not affordable to create a separate NFBBC site and STATS doesn't have a basketball commissioner product yet. So I would contract with Allstar Stats to run the individual leagues and the overall contest and we'd be hosted there. There would be individual league message boards there and I'd create a spot here for the main NFBBC Message Board. It's not ideal, but suitable for the first year.I've never used allstar stats but it looks fine.

5) Format: 12 teams, 8-10 categories, Rotisserie format. We'd pay out league prizes and an overall prize just like we do in the National Fantasy Baseball Championship. If we got 60 teams, we could have something around a $3,000 league prize, $1,200 for 2nd, $500 for third and $5,000 overall prize depending on the entry fee. Again, it would be a start.I would think you could easily get 100 teams if you work on it. $5,000 overall sounds kinda weak to be honest. When I hear high stakes I think the grand prize should be at least $10,000. Greg- how many teams would you need to guarantee a $10 K prize?

6) Scoring: Rotisserie format using categories like total points, blocked shots, rebounds, steals, assists, field goal percentage, free throws made and three-pointers made. Should we add FT% or anything else?FT% would be fine, as would assist/to ratio. The ass/to ratio is much better than total turnovers IMO.

7) Serpentine draft for 12-14 rounds and you start 10 players each week. We can finalize those numbers later as I don't have the rules done yet. We'll also have a $1,000 FAAB for in-season free agents using blind bidding process.

The plans are still in the works for an online basketball draft, but I need to work with the NBA on this first. We are licensed in all of our sports and I'm seeking to work with the NBA first before diving too deep into this. All looks good so far, but I need to finalize that first.

Obviously it will take some work to get the word out in a hurry, but we'll see what happens. There are some good content sites out there who would help me out. As for the overall grand prize, yeah I'd love to get it up to $10,000, but my main focus now would be paying off a solid league prize and getting the format down for 12-team leagues. If we can get 96 teams, that obviously would get us close to $10K overall.

I like $600 as an entry fee right now. But I'll finalize more of this soon.

Awesome news. I think $600 is perfect for the 1st year. And yeah, a solid league prize is more important than a larger overall prize. Let us know if you want any help getting the word out.
