Michael Edelman Is Week 6 Primetime Winner
Tom Brady won a lot of fantasy titles for his owners in his glorious 2007 season. Thus far in 2009, his owners have been patiently (and some, not so patiently) waiting for the New England quarterback to deliver a banner game.
The wait finally ended in Week 6. And for Michael Edelman’s Brady’s big week paid off with huge dividends in the Primetime event.
Thanks to Brady’s 55 points, Edelman’s Incredible Hulking Us team in New York League 4 topped the Primetime field last week with 235.90 points.
Ray Rice (36.4), Hines Ward (29.9), Thomas Jones (29.7) and the Green Bay defense (23) also had big weeks.
“Everything seemed to go well for us this week as every one of our players produced except Brandon Jacobs,” Edelman said. “It was a pretty easy week as far as decisions went. We had Jason Witten on a bye and just plugged in Todd Heap. Playing Thomas Jones vs. the Buffalo run defense was a no-brainer. Brady, Rice, Andre Johnson, Jones, the Green Bay defense, Hines Ward and Mario Manningham all put up more solid numbers.”
New York 4 is one of the toughest leagues in the Primetime event this year so Edelman knew he had to be on the top of his game heading into the draft.
“Our strategy going in was to take one of the four big wide receivers and then Tom Brady with our first two picks,” he said. “We ended up with Andre Johnson and Tom Brady. We envisioned a repeat of 2007 from Mr. Brady but that hadn’t happened until this week. Hopefully, it’s a sneak peak of what’s to come.
“From there, we just wanted to accumulate the best players available. We ended up with Brandon Jacobs in the third and Jason Witten in the fourth. Both were picks were very happy with at the time, but both have underperformed big time. If either one of them gets going, I really like this team’s chances to compete.”
The 29-year-old Edelman is married and lives in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. He is an accountant/financial analyst for Becton Dickinson.
