Idea's to improve the NFFC experience - for little expense.
I understand your thought process with this suggestion, but it would be an absolute nightmare.
Rick, I can only imagine the folks who lose track during the draft(happens all the time).......spending 5 minutes trying to find the sticker for a player selected 1 hour prior....."Where's so and so?"....."Eh, Mr. Brainiac, he was selected forever ago"......"ok, well then I/we need another minute to figure out who we want".
Having facilitated many times, I've dealt with the drunken idiots....allowing them to stand up to make place the stickers on themselves would be quite interesting.....for various reasons.
I would seriously love to be an observer of a draft done this way because I love comedy!

If you don't like this approach to noise control, then have each owner write down their next pick and hand it to the draft moderator/timer with no announcement. I see your point here Rick, although I do not agree. I have zero problem with guys having no clue to pick ... only to here a name from another draft and an unknown source and go with it.
The calling out names used to bother me a little until I realized if someone is actually using that information (the draft the overheard name comes from could be 3 rounds ahead of yours) they probably are dead money. It's a blessing that they are in your league ... just be grateful!

TK, No 14 team online championship? Then throw us a couple of bones. $150, $250 and $350 14 team satellites.

I understand your thought process with this suggestion, but it would be an absolute nightmare. That's why I threw out the written version, GLY, which is the same thing NFL teams do on draft day or so it appears to me when watching the draft. Gerard, my partner, and I suggested private rooms for each league to Greg after the 2004 draft but cost killed that idea understandably. Sitting in Vegas and listening to 8-10 drafts while trying to do one is ridiculous. Over the years we've gotten immune to it but still don't like it. This thread seemed the perfect place to recommend a change.
I can however understand why you would want to keep the status quo though, having drafted with you a couple of times.

Turning in a written slip to the moderator/timer for each pick would be no expense and privitize each league draft at least until the break.

Your sitting on Steve Smith. Fifteen players are called off in the draft next to you that you ignore ... then You hear STEVE SMITH called out ... if he is picked before you ... you attribute it, in part, to the draft next to you?
I'm still saying give me 13 owners that are trying to catch names from the draft next to me ... and I will coast to first or second in that league. Have you ever tried to pick up a name from the league next to you? Didn't think so. Has anyone? Not anyone on these message boards.

The way it is currently done is the only way it will ever be....unless they catch up with technology and have screens at each table for all to see the picks inputted......the future: Ipads for each seat at the draft?
Even with a hand-written process, the facilitator still needs to call out the players names for the people who have bad eyesight or are just plain lazy to actually look at the sticker placed on the board.
There is a gigantic board for all to see picks and when I facilitate, I walk to the three different sections of the U to announce the player selected, yet some still have a hard time keeping track of the draft. If we simply placed the sticker on the board, people would freak out wanting to know who it was.....I say eat more carrots or get some glasses!!
I, too, would love the leagues to be sequestered, but we know this will never happen.
FYI: I am ready with my pick once it is my turn, regardless of how the picks are announced.....no need to even have a clock when I am drafting.
Ways to improve event.....have a draft at a Dave and Busters......some of us enjoy competition, regardless.
To be honest, food and drink do nothing for me at the draft.....same with the eye candy provided at the WCOFF....the stickers girls are a waste of money if you ask me. I know some guys "get off" on that, but I'm there to draft and socialize, not see girls paid to smile. Some of us don't need girls provided for us, we can get them ourselves!

True, Big Mike, there are many angles to this both positive and negative. The lost guy searching like mad in the mid to late rounds and hears a name in the draft next door could be stealing a player or two from one of the teams drafting ahead of me. But it seems this happens in the league I'm drafting in EVERY year. True, that guy was dead money, but it doesn't change the fact 8-10 leagues are shouting out draft picks to everybody in the room. Either of my suggestions would alleviate that.

This is definitely the dream scenario and one I've been pushing for since our events' inception. Unfortunately, it's still not cost effective. But I haven't given up hope and I know this is something Ryan would like to implement as well.

Even with a hand-written process, the facilitator still needs to call out the players names for the people who have bad eyesight or are just plain lazy to actually look at the sticker placed on the board. Why? All he needs to do is take the paper to the table, pull the sticker, and put it on the board. Even at my age I can read the board. If you can't see the board you better have a partner who can or you are dead money anyway.

I do like the Dave & Busters idea though.

I like the big draft room with names flying. You either have a plan or you do not. I am with Ugly, put me in a league with a bunch of guys that are not prepared and easily influenced. "Money"
