I have never been a fan of drafting a qb in the first round but after last year I learned something .I took jamaal charles with my first pick and aaron rodgers with my second . After losing charles I was still in every game because of 1 player on my team and that player was rodgers.I think i finished 8-5 out of everything but still wondering what if.
so 1 of my drafts this year went like this
Ryan Mathews RB The Voice of Reason SL4
2 9 Greg Jennings WR The Voice of Reason SL4
3 9 Hakeem Nicks WR The Voice of Reason SL4
4 6 Eli Manning QB The Voice of Reason SL4
5 9 Vernon Davis TE The Voice of Reason SL4
6 6 Jermichael Finley TE The Voice of Reason SL4
7 9 Michael Crabtree WR The Voice of Reason SL4
8 6 James Starks RB The Voice of Reason SL4
9 9 Mike Williams WR The Voice of Reason SL4
10 6 Andy Dalton
Damn it is time to go back to the drawing board, this being a slow draft i took chances on injuries and drafted everybody on their upside .

If this was a main team i would not have half of these players on my team.

I noticed the number 13 guy picked 2 tight ends rounds one and two. That has to be the craziest strategy Ive ever seen. Would like to hear that owners thought process. Rut Row Raggy!!

Maybe he felt good getting TWO tier1 players in his first 2 rounds, while everyone else got just one, then was forced with the agonizing decision over which position to start tier2 at?

The team will obviously be weak at RB but WR is so deep that there are solid options to be had in later rounds. Landing one of the better QB's left would be crucial in my opinion. It's not bad to essentially have two WR1's already on your roster two picks in. 90 grabs, 1200 yards, and double digit TD's out of both would probably justify the strategy.

I would like to see how he fared the rest of the way. There has to be sum serious holes at RB and or QB. With the addition of B Lloyd can Gronks repeat his goddy stats? Does hernandez who was targeted more in the red zone last year catch the bulk of the TDs this year? I like Graham a lot more than Gronkowski this year. Two tight ends in round and two is not very sound. It would take just a couple guys like Gates, Witten, or maybe O Daniels too have great years to nullify the advantage. Too risky for my money

Looking at the first 6 rounds he didnt take a RB. He took Graham, Gronks, Jennings, Rivers, V Jax, and Wayne. Would you feel good about that start?

Everyone has their own way of building a championship roster, but I'll admit I've never seen a team take two TEs with their first two picks before. Essentially, for both TEs to score each week for this team one of them will have to occupy the Flex position, essentially blocking out every other player on his roster. That's kind of like picking a DH-only eligible hitter in baseball in the second round, something you rarely see.

Then by taking four WRs next there is now at least one player who can't score every week from his first six picks because the Flex spot has to be taken by one of them with only 3 WR and 1 TE spots available. Not to say it can't work, but hopefully you'd like all six of your top picks to score as many points as possible each week. This still could work in this DC format, but that Flex position isn't as versatile now as you'd like. Not a criticism, just an evaluation.

Maybe that's because we tend to evaluate drafts based upon our preseason perceptions (ADP)? I agree that it'd be hard for me to take two TEs so early. But if someone feels strongly that they'll repeat, then they're locking up two tier1 players (by ADP anyway) early in the draft - something most teams will not be able to get. I also don't care for Wayne this year, but he might.

As for waiting on RBs though... no, most would not be comfortable with that - because right now, we think he has terrible RBs. But take a look at last year's top 20 RBs and what their ADPs were:
ADP Actual PLAYER
6 1 LeSean McCoy
2 2 Ray Rice
4 3 Arian Foster
10 4 Matt Forte
9 5 Maurice Jones-Drew
28 6 Fred Jackson
1 7 Adrian Peterson
46 8 Darren Sproles
31 9 Marshawn Lynch
14 10 Michael Turner
19 11 Ryan Mathews
3 12 Chris Johnson
41 13 Michael Bush
24 14 Beanie Wells
11 15 Frank Gore
26 16 Reggie Bush
12 17 Steven Jackson
32 18 Mike Tolbert
52 19 DeMarco Murray
20 20 Shonn Greene

The top 20 RBs (which covers most teams' two starting RBs) can come from all over the draft board. So maybe it's NOT so crazy to wait awhile on RBs while stockpiling "safer" picks in the early rounds? Afterall, a few years ago, Tom Yates won the $100k Classic by starting with 3 (or 4?) WRs.

You know what sucks? I landed the 3rd pick in the slow draft we just started... i really wanted McCoy. I believe this is the only slow draft so far where he has gone before pick 3! :x
