Beat John Hansen Online Championship League
As Greg posted in the Guru thread, John picked a date of Aug. 8 at 9 pm ET for a "Beat John Hansen" Online Championship league and invited his Guru subscribers to take part. The league sold out in less than three hours and nearly 20 new players to the NFFC signed up to take part. We obviously couldn't get all 20 into the league but all of them are also competing against John in a separate Guru/NFFC side contest that we're running in conjunction with the Online Championship. Here is the draft order for the Beat John Hansen League. Who has the stuff to take down the Guru? We'll find out next week.

John Hansen will be drafting in the NFFC Online Championship in two more days. Should be fun to see how he handles things from the 8 hole. We'll post some of his early picks once the draft is finished, but we won't give all of his secrets away. Good luck John and good luck to everyone from FantasyGuru.com who joined the NFFC for the first time through John's promotions. I trust you'll enjoy the competition.

We're looking forward to this league tonight. Let's see what kind of team Mr. Hansen builds from the 8th spot tonight. Good luck everyone.

I don't think John will be taking Trent Richardson there like he did with the 8th pick in our magazine draft.Greg Ambrosius wrote:We're looking forward to this league tonight. Let's see what kind of team Mr. Hansen builds from the 8th spot tonight. Good luck everyone.

Probably not, because due to the uncertainty, he can probably get him in round 2.Tom Kessenich wrote:I don't think John will be taking Trent Richardson there like he did with the 8th pick in our magazine draft.Greg Ambrosius wrote:We're looking forward to this league tonight. Trent is actually a "buying opportunity" tonight.

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. I'll admit I'm officially scared right now. I just Tweeted that of the Top 15 RBs in our drafts, seven are dealing with injury/durability issues of some kind. The RB position is an absolute mine field this season after the Top 3 are gone.BillyWaz wrote:Probably not, because due to the uncertainty, he can probably get him in round 2.Tom Kessenich wrote:I don't think John will be taking Trent Richardson there like he did with the 8th pick in our magazine draft.Greg Ambrosius wrote:We're looking forward to this league tonight. Re: Beat John Hansen Online Championship League
Well, we had a lot of fun with John Hansen in last night's NFFC Online Championship League. We had three leagues going at once with many of these participants joining us from FantasyGuru.com. John's league consisted of many of his customers and let's just say they learned from the Master!! John was frustrated when many times his top players on his board were selected right before him. Welcome to the NFFC John!!
Anyway, it was a great draft that finished in 2 hours and 15 minutes with a great group of owners. All of these owners will be competing with John in this league, but all FantasyGuru.com customers can also compare their scores against John during the season. And we have a side contest for FantasyGuru first year NFFC players in the Online Championship to compete against John and other customers for an additional prize. So it's going to be a fun, fun year for those first-year players in the NFFC.
Let's take a look at John's team that he constructed from the 8th spot:
QB - Michael Vick
QB - Andrew Luck
QB - John Skelton
RB - Chris Johnson
RB - DeMarco Murray
RB - Steven Ridley
RB - Jahvid Best
RB - Taiwan Jones
RB - Joe McKnight
RB - Mike Tolbert
WR - Antonio Brown
WR - Dez Bryant
WR - Reggie Wayne
WR - Jacoby Ford
WR - Santonio Holmes
WR - Kendall Wright
TE - Jermichael Finley
TE - Kyle Rudolph
K - Ryan Succop
D - Pittsburgh
So, what do you think? Can John win the $100,000 grand prize?

Not bad ... for an expert.
But given his years of hanging around the NFFC/NFBC, my money's on Ray the Florist having a better team.

Re: Beat John Hansen Online Championship League
John and I think alike in a lot of ways and both of us are concerned about the significant RB drop-off that will hit the position early this year. I'm sure that's why he went old-school RB-RB and took Murray in the second ahead of Julio Jones, who I know he loves. There's obviously no way to know how a draft is going to unfold but had he taken Jones in the second, he could've grabbed Sproles in the third instead of Vick and then grabbed Romo in the fourth instead of Brown. That would give him a foundation of:
QB-Romo
RB-C.Johnson
RB-Sproles
WR-Jones
WR-Bryant
I'd rather have that. Again, there's no way to know how the draft is going to unfold but in retrospect I think he would've been better served grabbing the potentially stud WR in the second and then hoping Sproles, Charles or Peterson were there for him in the third (and all three were).

Re: Beat John Hansen Online Championship League
I drafted from the same spot last night (8th) and when I looked at his league compared to mine, oh what a difference. I got Mathews where he took CJ in round 1. Murray and Forte were already taken (my heart was broken) before my 2nd round pick, so I went off my board for Gronk. Sproles was LONG gone before my 3rd (where I took Newton). In hindsight, Romo made it to me and past me in ROUND 6 (can I have a do-over on Newton in the 3rd) and I drafted Gresham with 10.8 as my TE2/potential bye week flex (can I have another do-over instead of Gronk in the 2nd).... Yes, every draft is WAY different.
