I'm not sure we can have one FA period per week with the Thursday games now in place for nearly the entire season. The only option there would be to do it on Thursdays and if memory serves nobody liked that idea at all. If the NFL continues the Thursday night games - and I fully expect them to - then I think we have to have a two FAAB periods per week, either keeping the way we do it now or tweaking it somehow.

I actually posted on another board that I will cut back on non DE leagues next year due to the "free-agency frenzy".
I'm with Wayne pretty much on this. It's not a knock on any contest , it's just maintaining the enjoyment factor. Like Wayne, I don't enjoy the free agency process much and I enjoy it less now. I dont have the time and I generally suck at it. I like drafting.
Some really enjoy free agency. In those cases, they are probably in seventh heaven.

I hope that it reverts back to one free agency period next yr. It's not knock on any contest, but if you cannot manage many teams efficiently, you are harming your chances at success on any given team. rather concentrate on fewer teams and do a better job.

Or I might just do every DE league (close to truth) and have to compete against Wayne drafting next to me in every draft!
Joe, you and Wayne are very much alike and I know you guys could do a Draft Champions draft every night and love every second of them. FAAB is a pain for both of you. You guys should see what it's like in baseball where our guys have FAAB for 26 straight weeks every Sunday involving twice as many players in free agency. It's much tougher over there, but I don't recall ever seeing a post over there saying someone is leaving because of FAAB.

Again, I think the key is finding the right FAAB setup to deal with Thursday Night Games every week of the season. The NFL isn't turning back and that's what we said last year, so how do we deal with it going forward? For folks who don't have multiple teams, maybe the full FAAB on Wednesday isn't so bad. But is it the best solution?

I'm surprised that nobody has given any input on the option to just do the two Thursday teams on Wednesday night and full FAAB on Friday. How does that option look today? Wouldn't that be a solution most folks could live with? It really would be no different than what we had in the past outside of the two teams competing on Thursday night. What's your thoughts on that?

Good read Glenn and you helped me find the thread I was looking for this morning. You also are on Page 1 voting for E. Again, hindsight is always 20-20 and maybe what we have is still favored by most participants, but we'll ask everyone at season's end and make a smart decision for 2013 NFFC. Our goal is to have Registration live very early next off-season, the rules in place, host venues in place and prizes in place very early this year to get things rolling faster than we did this year. And that would include knowing what FAAB is going to be in all NFFC events in 2013.
Voted for E then and would still vote for E now. It is the most sensible way to go. But who am I to say I think sensibly...I'm the only one in ANY NFFC contest to have dropped Ryan Williams after his fumble against NE...

Joe,

You love drafting against me - it's like playing someone on autopick!

Greg,

I did not say that I wasn't playing NFFC next year if this doesn't go my way. I didn't even say that I was playing less leagues here. If it came across that way I apologize. Your responses like this are ten times more frustrating than any rules with the NFFC. (Sorry.) I will probably do less managed leagues but I'm looking at possibly dropping a dynasty or two so that I can keep my re-draft leagues. This was not intended as some kind of veiled threat.

Tom,

It sounds like you want more than one waiver period. If that's the case then I like the Wednesday for the Thursday players only. I didn't like this option last year but it seems much more attractive than the current system having used it for 3 weeks now.

Hey Wayne, I want whatever is best for our participants. I realize we're unlikely to come up with any rule that will please everyone but I do think we can put something together that will work well. I think we did that this year and based on the survey results what we implemented is what the majority wanted. Does that mean it's set in stone going forward? Of course not. We'll review this at the end of the year and if there is a strong push for another option and it's one we can effectively implement we'll go in that direction instead. We do that with everything we offer every year and FAAB will be no exception at the end of this season.

I do think it's imperative that whatever rule is in place allows players in the Thursday game to be picked up and started that week. So that rules out a Friday-only option or something along those lines. My personal preference was for a Thursday-only option this year but as I recall nobody liked that idea so it just goes to show you what I know. :D I like the current set-up and I think that so far it's worked extremely well. However, if our players are unhappy with the set-up and want us to make a change we'll definitely listen and see if there's another direction we need to go in.

I agree Tom. I like the once a week on Friday but the majority did not. Thursday's would be really tough as there are days that I would not be able to access the computer between the time of the waivers ending and the start of the game. So if I picked up someone for Thursday night I could be out of luck. That's probably worst than no waivers at all.

Either way I know that you guys will listen to everyone's input. I was kind of curious to see if people had different opinions now that we are into this a bit and it sounds like that may be the case.

Was one of the options in our questionnaire?

Thursday night FAAB for Thursday games only, with a Friday FAAB period for the weekend games?

I'm surprised that nobody has given any input on the option to just do the two Thursday teams on Wednesday night and full FAAB on Friday.

Pretty sure I did that at the top of page 4. I don't post much any more and I didn't go to Vegas so I can see why you wouldn't notice me :D

I think that is the option most seem to like the best here Jeff. Albeit a small sample size. I wasn't a fan of this earlier this year but it looks much more attractive now.
