Roger Mathews Wins NFFC Classic Title & $75,000

Roger Mathews of Chico, California won our 9th annual NFFC Classic title and the $75,000 grand prize with a winning total of 644.89 points. These are unofficial stats through Thursday because Elias could still have some scoring changes, but Roger currently has a 13.01 point lead over David and Gregg Zwickel for first place, so that should hold up. CONGRATS ROGER!!

Roger scored 184.55 points in Week 16 to vault from 6th place to 1st place. This is Roger's second season in the NFFC Classic and he mastered the competition to become our 9th different Classic winner. Nice job Roger.

Roger won the head-to-head portion of his Las Vegas Sept. 8th 2 pm PT Classic League, while finishing third in his league in points. That was a tough, tough league and Roger's sack dance team finished 10-3 with 1,774.9 points. sack dance went into the Championship Round ranked 49th out of 54 teams, but quickly moved up after scoring 176.1 (2nd most) in Week 14, 147.7 (17th most) in Week 15, and 184.55 (3rd most) in Week 16. That hot finish was worth a cool $75,000 and the prestigious title for Roger Mathews.

Congrats to Brian Kurrus of Oakton, Virginia for winning the $2,500 in the NFFC Classic Consolation Round. Brian finished with 643.88 points, which was just under the winning total in the Classic Championship Round that Roger Mathews put up. Great job Brian and nice finish in the Consolation Round. Standings are unofficial until Elias makes changes, but Brian has a 22.14 point lead over Carlos Perez, so he should be good. Congrats to all Classic League owners who battled until the end.

I'll let Tom tell the whole story when he does the writeup on Roger, but you'll laugh when you find out that Roger signed up for two Classic teams when he meant to sign up for two Primetime teams. He joined us last year and took two Primetime teams in Las Vegas. He called Tom and they talked it through and then he decided to stick in the 14-team Main Event. GOOD CHOICE ROGER!! Now he's $75,000 richer!!!

Roger drafted in the final Classic League draft of the season: The Sept. 8th Las Vegas 2 pm PT Classic League. This was a loaded league with former NFFC Classic overall champion Tom Yates, NFFC Lifetime Standings Leader Billy Wasosky, Wayne Ellis, Rob Silver, Duke Viveros, Matthew Shepherd, Chris Gillman, Scott Newman, Dan Satinoff, John Fousek and many more great owners in it.
