Looking For Feedback On NFFC Cutline Championship

Quick question, so, if you are averaging the playoff rounds and weeks 1-9, and the current week (lets say week 12), then obviously the current week would get a lot more weight during that week, or am I interpreting wrong?

For example... My average score for weeks 1-9 is 100. My score for week 10 is 130, week 11 is 120, then week 12 is 80. Would that mean you are average 100 + 125_+ 80? I am just trying to understand the scoring method for the championship rounds.

Great idea.. like everything about it, except for FAAB. I would buy a bunch of teams, if I didn't have to worry about FAAB. Otherwise I don't have the time. I wont buy just 1 or 2 teams.. I am either buying a bunch of teams, or none.

1. 100K vs 50K - I think six figures looks more enticing from a marketing standpoint, but I do like the prize structure as is. How many more teams/entries can you get by making the grand prize 100K? IDK, but I figured I would play devils advocate.

2. I agree with Billy that for me personally I would play more teams if it was no FAAB, but it wouldn't help with attracting the low stakes players. Everyone would want a chance at being able to improve their roster due to bad drafts and injuries especially with it being 10 team leagues. There will be plenty of good players available to choose from each week.

3. I think having a $100 price point for entry fee is key in attracting new players for this particular contest. Especially when I think you guys would be expecting players to buy multiple teams. For the average Joe who might say 3 teams for $300, I can swing it, but 3 teams at $375 is starting to add up.

4. Make league prize an entry into Rotowire Online Championship following year.

Alan, in the First Round of the playoffs as you mention above, it would be your weekly scoring average (100 points as you state above) + Week 10 + Week 11 + Week 12. So your example above is not correct; it's 100 + 130 + 120 + 80 = 430 points. That's in the First Round of the Championship Round and the Wild Card bracket.

In the Second Round, it would be your weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-9 (100), plus weekly playoff scoring average (from Weeks 10-12, which was 110 points above), plus your score from Week 13. So three sets of numbers: 100 + 110 + whatever you scored in Week 13.

Let's keep discussing how we can find a happy medium with FAAB and roster size. How do we make this a viable game to our die-hards and attract new customers with a format that allows them to "manage" their teams? There has to be a happy medium here.

1. We already have enough contests in this industry with the "biggest carrot possible." We could easily take from 2nd, 3rd, etc. overall and make first place $75,000 and try for $100,000, but some of the early feedback I got from others was to have a contest with solid 2nd through 12th overall prizes. With so much on the line in Week 12, we thought 1st at $50,000, 2nd at $25,000, 3rd at $15,000 and 12th at $1,000 would be fairer. So the goal of this contest with growth will be more balanced payouts rather than one big carrot. Let us know if that's smart or stupid!!

2. Agreed. Where's the happy medium to this? Let's figure it out together.

3. $100-$125 with 3-packs and 5-packs will be coming.

4. We pay all prizes out in cash. Giving free entries as prizes is a game operator's dream, but haven't we seen this enough in this space? We'll figure out this part of it.

Like the cutline concept. Like the price point because the key here is volume volume volume. Get people drafting in July-August. Tough line to walk FAAB-wise. Draft too early and the team has issues. Wait to draft and you won't get the volume. It's a new contest, why not a new concept ? FAAB but only 3 times during the season ? After week 1, midseason, and before last game ? Make all players dropped ineligible to be bid on. Its' a way to straddle the line between another DC-type concept and another workmanlike faab league.

I also like this idea and agree with Q that "volume, volume, volume" is key. I don't mind different price points and actually think a lower price point would attract more players...something like $49.95, $99.95 & $149.95...to me it is a crap shoot anyway, so I would be more at the lower price and still be happy with say a $10,000 Overall for that point.

I too like this idea. If Jupinka lived in the state of Wisconsin he'd be the 3rd smartest guy around!!
