Revised NFFC Prize Structure Proposal

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Aug 23, 2004 3:20 am

One of our NFFC guys just received this e-mail from Payday Sports, which had advertised a $1 million grand prize for a live draft in Atlantic City on Saturday, Sept. 11th. Cost of entry is $3,600. The only reason I'm posting this is that I know a lot of New York callers had said they were not signing up for the NFFC just yet because they wanted to see how this contest played out. So this is just an FYI, not an editorial:

From Payday Sports: "The league is GOING TO HAPPEN. We probably will not reach the million
dollar mark this year. We will probably top out somewhere between 60-100 PAID teams. So, for example, you may have a 1 in 60 shot at $100,000!
You can't beat those odds!"

They never had a message board. Their entry fee was 2-3 times as much as any other high-stakes league. How the heck does a contest with a super concept like the FFTOC fold yet one like PayDay gets 60-100 etries (allegedly) is beyond my comprehension!!

Actually, they told the truth saying they would probably top out at 60-100. So, if you take the 'true' parts of that.. what they are saying is:

"If we have a huge last week, we may get to 60"

And then (for example - not a commitment) you might have a 1 in 60 shot at $100,000.

It sounds like maybe they might have a contest and they might possibly pay someone something for winning.

My guess: 30 people pay $3,300 = $99,000 in.

Winner takes home a $50,000 check.

That's just an opinion. I'm wrong all the time.

I shouldn't chime in, but they can't finish with 100 owners. They'd have a league of four leftovers, since they are trying to fill leagues of 12!

Just to let everyone know, Tom and I have called a lot of people already, but we've left a lot of voice messages, too. We will likely call everyone tonight as it looks like we have mostly home phone numbers. If you haven't heard from us yet, it's not that we said we'd call and haven't tried. By the end of the day, everyone hopefully will have heard from us if time permits.

Oh, and we have 63 "definitely stayings" and one "on the fence." Thanks again for your loyalty everyone and we'll make this work.
