Thanks Greg! I appreciate that. I hope it can be useful for all contests. If you decide to use it for just the Cutline Championship initially you could call it the Color Cutline Championship (CCC)!

That might be walking a fine and dangerous line south of the mason dixon.

I remember being on the phone 3 years ago Greg talking to you about how you needed a cutline championship so this sure is exciting to hear!!! I like most of what I hear, only thing I don't like is it sounds like we revert to averages after 9 weeks so it isn't going to be hard for a 5th place team to start going berserk after 9 weeks and win the grand prize. :? If you told me I could finish 3rd through 5th and still be in a bracket to win 10k that be WAY MORE THAN ENOUGH for me

The less FAAB the more likely I am to do more teams. The 3 times overall and only once a week not twice is about the max I'd be willing to do with the long odds of winning imo because there will be a million teams but it seems I'm one of the few who signs up for anything considering the odds, everyone else just sees the grand prize and thinks they are going to win it I guess. I also think people forget what 10 team leagues are like, you really aren't going to need the FAAB that much (unless you are hammered with injuries, which case you are probably done), your team is going to be DEEP. Wait til you do one of these after doing a Classic draft, you'll think its Christmas and you're in the rookie league draft!

Just thinking out loud here, you could pay the team with the most points $125 and the team with the best head to head record $125 as I think everyone is playing this for the grand prize. Not even sure I want it this way, just thinking out loud like I said.

Some amazing ideas in this thread, well done guys and gals!

The more I think about it the more I think 2 FA periods would suffice. One before the bye weeks starts and the next half way through the year. I think that would be a great fit, with 10 team 26 rounds FA's wont be needed nearly as much.

Thanks Jared and yes I do remember talking with you about this. I always did like the concept of the Cutline contest, but it all comes down to having the technology to hosting all of these drafts without any issues, having the right game format to make it appealing, having a big enough prize structure to entice current and new players to the contest, and having the correct technology to make the in-season game enjoyable and challenging.

I think we can now do all of that here at STATS.

As for the playoff format, it's not going to be easy for any 5th place team to win the $50,000 grand prize. But yes, if you get hot from Weeks 9 through 16 you will deserve any prize money you get. Those are the weeks to get hot in this contest and any fantasy football contest.

As for FAAB, once per week and three times per year is the way we'll roll this year. I agree with you, in 10-team leagues and with 26-man rosters there will be less of a need for FAAB. But with injuries, you'll have some guys out for the season who you'll need to cut for new pickups, so FAAB will be helpful. But it won't be a strain on your time this season.

Thanks for the suggestions. You are correct, everyone chipped in to make this contest better than Tom and I could have done alone. I'm lovin' it and now it's time to get the Prize Grid page set up, the Schedule of Events posted and Registration live to start these in early July. Let's have some fun with this one.

Okay, below is our tentative Schedule of Events for the NFFC Cutline Championship. Not all of these draft dates will fill, but we are trying to offer as many options as possible. With 10-team leagues and a price point of only $125 per team, we think we can fill a lot of these up on the day of the drafts.

With that in mind, we are going to offer consistent times for the NFFC Cutline Championship. Starting in August, every night of the week you'll have offerings at 7 pm and 10 pm ET so that when you come home and you're feeling the desire to draft there will be an option waiting for you. And you'll know what time the drafts will be available because it will be the same time every night. We'll have other options on the weekends and during some August weekdays, but this way you know that there will be a $125 10-team draft in August at 7 and 10 pm ET if you feel the need for a draft.

The hope is that this Cutline Championship grows and grows after this initial season. We're excited about the potential of this contest. Thanks again for all of the helpful tips to improve the game.

Okay, here's the tentative Schedule of Events:

DId not read quite all of the thread but thought I would throw in my thoughts since this type of contest was the worst bad beat I will ever endure.

1. For me personally, less FAAB is better. That being said, I think it cheapens the contest and is bad for new players. They want to manage their club. They should be able to. 20 rounds is plenty if normal faab. And you are going to have a great deep team making drops tough. Faab won't take as long as the bigger leagues, as while you will have a much better free agent pool obviously, the caliber of player that belongs in great 10 man lineups drops in proportion.

2. Perhaps make this championship FAAB the opposite of all the other brands and the competition major brands and have a "deal with the Thursday game" situation where FAAB for this is ran on Friday only. You could do it either that you can or cannot bid on Thursday players. Probably not for those than need to have them done ahead of time, but either way would work. That would give folks more time to get to these, and wouldn't hinder their ability to do the higher stakes contests. Would also be a way to test this method for your other contests, although I think it is correct as is on that aspect.

3. Thanks for reminding me of the Deangello Williams fiasco.

My bad, read further tonight. Don't like the rules and will pass here. Too many rounds make drafts take way longer than they need to. When you start 10 players 26 rounds is way too many. And I consider this a high stakes contest and I want to be able to make roster moves if I want to shape my team for the race at the end. I am sure it will be popular anyway, just not my deal. Extremely quick drafts so people jump in more, and good software to do the necessary moves quickly is the way to go with this contest. But my bad. Didn't see the thread in time but it angled in the complete wrong direction IMO.
