What a joke

Post by greenwichsttavern » Wed Aug 07, 2013 7:50 pm

I'm watching this fantasy show on NFL network with another bunch of ''experts'' and the guy puts up his top 5 backup QB'S to target : 1. Matt Ryan 2.M Stafford 3. T Romo...and then i shut it off after he said Ryan is a great backup qb you can get in the 9th,10th round !! cmon, these people are getting paid for this ?? You see a lot of these shows and websites and just wonder who their bosses are that allow them to go on air or put this on the internet and tell them good job, your really helping the public.

perhaps they are in a 4 team league? in which case the 10th round sounds about right. :D

of course they should just hire veteran nffc players to be their experts.

I happened to be watching the same show and just stared at the TV dumbfounded by what was being said. I guess you can target Matt Ryan as your back up but that would mean selecting him in the 5th round and already probably taking a guy like Rodgers, Brees, or Manning in earlier rounds. Makes absolute no sense! You would like to think this content would be previewed prior to airing and someone with any FFB sense would speak up, but apparently not.

Maybe it's because in NFL.com leagues, passing TDs are only 4 points?

That's awesomely horrible. I was watching that show and was thinking the same exact thing. I turned the channel as well after that. I read Fabiano's mailbag today and he said he wouldn't draft Calvin until the 11th pick in a PPR. What's he smoking??? Marcas Grant is an idiot saying Andy Reid was a hinder to McCoy and could be for Charles value this year. Tom and Greg should invite them to play in the NFFC. We will gladly accept the DONATIONS

I don't view the 4 point thing that much of a difference. Cam, Vick, and RG3 get a slight bump maybe 10-15 points. If they score say ten rush TDs that's 20 extra points. Rodgers and Brady score 2 or 3 ground TDs usually. So 20 minus 6 = 14 more points. Also the point differential remains the same from a positional standpoint. You still get the point gap from the Elite Guys. Just give the running QBs a 14 point or less boost.

But isn't the QB position as a whole devalued?

Very True!! Rodgers loses his left tackle, Brady has nowhere to throw anymore, Peyton is ancient, and there is a historical slew of good to great QBs. Maybe 14 to 18 deep if you like Dalton, baby Manning, Freeman, Cutler plus Trestman, Big Ben, Palmer. Numbers still say you should try to draft a top 5ish guy though. You should get a 60 to 80 point advantage over 80 percent of the league and of course could hit on a guy who has a career or monster year.

I think podcast and videos are great for fantasy info. I think they all start off ok, but so many of these shows grow thin quick and run out of smart things to say about a hobby that so many take seriously. Their biggest mistake is thinking they can coast through a show and no one noticing that they have no clue what they are talking about.

Im actually happy they give out such crappy fantasy advise because anybody that actually uses shows like that or lists like the usa today top 200 that has zach miller ranked ahead of guys like james jones or greg olsen, they will deserve getting heir asses handed to them.
