60 Minutes Sports On Showtime To Air Tonight

As many of you know, camera crews from 60 Minutes Sports on Showtime were in Las Vegas Sept. 5-7 for our NFFC drafts as part of a special feature on the growth of fantasy football that they are producing. That camera crew even attended our NFL Viewing Party at the Bellagio and they interviewed several of our paticipants at that time. That piece will now air on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd at 10 pm ET.

The piece centers around Matthew Berry's book "A Fantasy Life", which features stories about unique fantasy players and their winning experiences. As you can see from the trailer, Matthew sets the tone for the growth of the industry and there are several live shots from various high-stakes events throughout the country, including the NFFC at the Bellagio Las Vegas. 60 Minutes Sports took several shots of the NFFC Diamond League in Las Vegas that you can see on the trailer and they even interviewed four of our Diamond League participants in our suite: Glenn Schroter, Rob Silver, Peter Berall and Kevin Payne. A film crew also followed Chad Schroeder to his drafts that weekend and I believe he will be highlighted as well in this piece.

IMO Matthew Berry is the last person should be writing a book on fantasy football.....He gives the worst advice bar none.
My son says just do the opposite of what Berry says and you will be fine. I'm not sure how Berry got to where he is.

I read and listen to Matthew Berry for entertainment mostly. He used to be writer for a lot of Hollywood shows back in the day. Seems like a nice enough and funny guy.

Has some valid points, but sometimes predictions are made to standout. ala Vick #1 a few years back.

Wow. If that trailer is any indication, looks like a lot of that chic reporter talking and being absolutely dumfounded by the popularity of Fantasy Football. Typical fluff piece. Expected better from 60 minutes.

In my interview I was clear about what I think of his knowledge:) Doubt that will get shown:). She sounded surprised I didn't think he was the smartest.

Actually, not at all. I would say maybe"5-10%" is about his fantasy skill. Even there he is self deprecating.

It is mostly about the stories about crazy leagues like "tattoo league". Funny stories about his leagues, relationships, and the reason why a lot of folks do fantasy football. For a lot of folks fantasy football is how they keep in touch with college friends or h.s friends or old coworkers. It is more along those lines.

It was a pretty entertaining read. Especially, loved the story about the guy drafting in the delivery room.

I think most high level fantasy football players understand Berry is there to entertain a different type of fantasy player and audience. I do look forward to when something is produced by serious fantasy people that paints an accurate picture of what we do. I remember years ago when the 30 for 30 guys where in NYC for what later was "This silly little game of ours." They interviewed me 3 times and checked in with me during the live draft. I gave them all kinds of info as to why fantasy sports have exploded and talked about the high stakes world. I was blown away by the final product and how silly it was. Though some reference to the "founding fathers" of roto baseball is worth being documented, I was hoping for a better piece about high stakes fantasy sports.

I read his 'bold prediction' article this year for shits and giggles. At the end of the article if you actually pieced the information together, he had roughly 13 running backs in his top 5 all having career best seasons

I can't read his stuff -- he makes 300 predictions and hopes 50 stick, then calls himself great for his calls.

Matthew Berry's book is a good read. I think he's much more of a creative and funny writer than a FFB "expert." I think if you are relying on his rankings and predictions each week, then you are already in trouble. You also have to understand that most of his rankings and predictions revolve around 10-team ESPN standard scoring leagues.

I don't read any of his stuff for FFB advice. The way in which he writes is simply entertaining for me.
