If head to head maters during the regular season than it should matter for the playoffs.
this is an issue in my home league.
Does anything look odd here?
1. Show Me Your TD's 11-0 W11
2. Goonie Goo-Goo 8-3 L1
3. PAY ATTENTION 7-4 W1
4. Team Burden 7-4 L1

PAY ATTENTION ) 1832.5

I just played the guy that is 11-0 last week he beat me because I had a foster, schaub, ghramn and jones out.
now is his team better or does he have the luck of the scheduling gods.
now this is a simple league $500 to 1st reg.season and $500 to first playoffs
$200 to 2nd reg. season and $200 2nd playoffs(6 teams make the playoff)Because of head to head I have drafted the best team (points wise) and could be left with nothing?
I know this is small compared to what everybody else is playing for but I think it is to the point. The top 2 point scorers are 3rd and 6th in the standings.
this is an issue in my home league.

I am in favor of the 4 team playoff after week 13, only if we are also rewarding the top 2 or 3 points champs in each league, after the regular season. I think this keeps more teams involved. I realize this makes things a little complicated but the playoffs do make things fun and will allow us to grow the NFFC. So if I am 2nd in points and 6th in record, at least I get something.. and same goes if I am 2nd in record and 6th in points. I would only like this in the Primetime leagues. Please keep Classic and auction the same so us old timer NFFC vets can still play in the current format.

Say what you want about consistent weekly scoring and H2H mattering but at the end of the day everyone is drafting players based on total projected points not anything else.
With that said why would we alter the way we determine the best teams by skewing it with random H2H?
Makes no sense. If it's just to make it more fun then why do we play for $$$$$ ? I would have to say I totally agree with both of your posts Jeff. The data does prove what you are saying. Again, the question is whether we're more concerned about keeping more teams active longer during the regular season and giving hope to more teams or are we more concerned about paying the best teams the most money in each league? From my standpoint, it's paying the best teams the most money because obviously they've earned it.

In a continuation to my point above, in every scenario, I believe we must somehow reward the top points team in each league, in some way, even if they do not win something in the playoffs round. I believe the 13 week season should count for something. This is what the NFFC is all about and what has defined us for years. If we just reward the playoff winners, then we are just like any other league.

Death tovthe sprint, and reward the the teams who are best over the longhaul.I like the 14 thru 16 playoff, and would vote to totally disband playoffs starting after week 11,too early.I minght not even participate in leagues thar start their playoffs after weeek 11 next season, but thats jusgt me. Good post Tom. I don't think anyone has to worry about the NFFC going to an 11-week regular season. I don't see us adopting that format; it's just not a long enough season.

Each HSFF contests has their own unique playoff format. I don't have a problem with the current system, but I can see the issue of a number of good teams being left out of the finals in week 14-16 for the overall championship. I don't think expanding the automatic league qualifliers to maybe top 3 or 4 in each league would work. I have seen leagues where they have 2 dominant teams, and the others teams in that league wouldn't come close to a wildcard spot. While other leagues may have 4 to 5 strong teams battling out. I believe the most simple solution would be to expand the wildcard spots. This allows more teams who may be out of the league championship battle, to still fight to get into the big dance!

I think the fact that there will most likely be a good amount more Primetime teams next year (just a hunch! ) my suggestions to allowing people in the championship round would be.....
1) Let a guaranteed 3rd team in based on POINTS (in addition to the record and next in points).
OR
2) Expand to the top 15% of total points for the wild card in the championship round.
As I have stated before, I would keep the money paid EXACTLY the same as it is now.

An uneven number of dominant teams in a league may just mean that league has more weak sisters.
While everyone loves to bash the "luck" of H2H, they equally will ignore the other aspects of luck such as league placement and injuries when evaluating their own success. A big reason I've come to accept that H2H is just part of the game - there are so many elements beyond our control, and H2H may just be a great equalizer rather than an undeserved charity.
