I see the merit but it does remove strategy, for example, in drafting a backup that you may think will have a better season (or more likely to take the job via talent, injury, or otherwise) than the "starter". I'd be in favor if it could be programmed as the starting QB plus his injury replacement for that particular game only.King of Queens wrote:I wouldn't be opposed to this. Of course, in the case of Vick (-0.4) and Barkley (4.9), that's a VERY small consolationccosley wrote:It is time to go to the Team QB concept. Like Defense, your draft a Teams QB and get points for the back-ups who play after injury and basically own the QB position for a team. Played in a league like this, hated the idea at first, loved in practice. In such a high-stakes league and important position, it is time to consider the TEAM QB concept. So in the Cutler situation last week, you would accumulate all the points from the Bear QB position. Have at it.

What I mean by this ... if Vick starts and gets injured I get Foles/Barkley replacement stats added for that game only, but the following week I do not get the PHL QB stats unless I have or acquire the named starter for that game. So I wouldn't want "team QB", since that also would limit player strategy and the player pool, but I would support "starting QB plus in-game replacement". Same deal for kickers.
For any other position, or in terms of designating a personal team backup for quarter-to-quarter injuries, that is a much tougher proposition. Even if not impossible to program (and it probably would be), I would not favor it since it would create a potentially highly complex and not necessarily seemingly fair outcomes ... suppose my opponent starts AP who plays poorly into Q3 then gets hurt, does my opponent then get his replacement for Q4 who may come on and generate trash-time stats? No thanks.
