I find this an interesting ADP trend so far this year... Last year he finished 18th among WRs and that's right where he's been going so far. In this draft, he crept up to 15th. Maybe it's as simple as the positive of Decker leaving is a wash with the negative of his declining production in the second half last year, along with his concussion history? But is this the right direction for his ADP to be heading this year? :?

Last year, 9 of his 10 TDs came in the first 8 games; and his 73/778 was nothing special without the TDs. Then his production dropped off for 5 games, before missing some games down the stretch due to multiple concussions within a month. The glass half-full crowd might extrapolate his 13 regular season games over a full 16-game season, or even just consider the 16 games he did play (including playoffs) - which would've projected to around 90/950/12 and a top-12 WR. However, the glass half-empty side might suggest that if he continues this year with similar production to the 5 games he played in the second half of last year, he would only score 74/713/3 this year, or just 163 NFFC points - which would put him outside the top 30 WRs. I think I'm kind of in between there on him.

Ok, so Decker is gone and maybe folks assume Welker will get a bump? But Sanders and the rookie, Latimer, have arrived. Maybe not a total 1:1 replacement, but can we imagine at least Sanders and either Caldwell and/or Latimer combining to cover what DEN lost in Decker? Not to mention, don't we expect a regression for Peyton from his record-setting year?

Ok, so Welker's in a contract year. But are the Broncos interested in feeding him the ball to boost his next contract next year (at 34 yrs old)? Or will they focus on preparing for life after Welker by getting the new guys more involved this year? This seems a bit deja vu to his final time in New England. Given Welker's concussion history too, you never know when he could miss a few games [again].

I'm not sure there's much room for Welker to improve. Maybe he has upside of 80/900, but maybe his TDs go down to the 6 or 7 range? That'd give him around 206-212 NFFC points, which would've landed him right where he was last year, 18th.

I predict he falls short of that and ends up around 75/825/6, flirting with top-25 status, and overdrafted in many leagues this year due to the volatility of TDs, which he was heavily reliant upon last year.

It's interesting to note that in the last six NFFC drafts posted here, Calvin Johnson and DeMaryius Thomas have gone right next to each other, between the 5th, 6th and 7th picks. And even more interesting, Thomas has gone ahead of Megatron in three of those six drafts. Could that trend continue this off-season?

Don't agree all of those players are tough to rank but I do agree Vernon Davis is more difficult. He's obviously talented and a Red Zone beast but whenever Crabtree has been healthy he's been the guy Kaepernick targets most while Davis' targets decline. I think Davis is being overdrafted right now because people are focusing on his talent (which is understandable) and ignoring a two-year long clearcut trend of diminishing returns for Davis when Crabtree is on the field.

I think so Greg. Calvin and Demaryius may be heading in different directions and it may be time for a changing of the guard.
• One WR is in his 8th year and missed a couple games last year due to injury. The other is in just his 5th year and coming off 2 rock-solid consistent seasons without missing a game, posting 94/1434/10 and 92/1430/14.
• One team let some lackluster WRs walk and added some intriguing replacements at WR and TE. The other let a top-10 WR go (and replaced him with one or two that may combine to fill his shoes). IOW, one may lose some targets and the other may gain some.

I don't agree with all of their thoughts either Tom, though, like you, I think Davis takes a target hit. I was referring to their take on Welker though (which painted the same polarized positions that I alluded to on his prospects this year).

I said before last season ended that if Decker left (which he did) I could see Thomas being WR1 this season. At some point, another WR is going to overtake Megatron. It likely would've happened last year if Julio Jones hadn't gotten hurt. He was WR1 at the time of his injury. Thomas possesses the talent, QB and situation to ascend to the top spot. It's no surprise to me to see people taking him over Calvin. He's that good.
