We can certainly offer more Express leagues if interest is there. I'll put some on the schedule for Sundays this month right now. If people want Saturdays we can add those too. Like Greg said, we're not against adding more leagues or catering more specific types of DC leagues. If the interest is there and we can fill them up we'll happily run them.

After a lengthy debate with one of the aforementioned "super slow" drafters yesterday ... the main problem is a lack of expectations. I've always thought that - since before we even started the slows - but once again I'm reminded.

PEOPLE NEED TO BE TOLD WHAT IS EXPECTED IN A SLOW DRAFT. Some drafters might find this or one of the many message board discussions from previous years, but some will not and will go on happily thinking there is no issue whatsoever taking 8 hours to pick because the rules say they can. And they're right, that's what the rules say and there's not one word in the rules or anywhere upon signing up that gives them a clue of what to expect. They could do some really simple math, like 3 picks per day @ 8 hours and 35 rounds would mean every draft would last 140 days, so a slow draft starting today would end around mid-season ... but they don't, or they just think they can take all the time they want and leave the responsibility for getting the draft done in a timely manner on other drafters.

At the top of every slow draft signup and in every email signup confirmation should be a brief statement from the NFFC, along the lines of what Greg wrote here a couple of posts ago. That would solve the expectations problem, which is 95% of the problem. And offer a Super Slow signup for those that want one.

Greg..It's not about the clock, it's exactly what KJ stated its about getting like minded individuals together, when that happens it makes these drafts so much more enjoyable. A big contingent of owners won't even come near these drafts because of the few owners who choose to take all their time imagine how many more leagues there could be if those owners got involved in these leagues as well. The new trend this year it seems is there are 2 or 3 owners who sign up for just about every single league and while at times they are good with their picks, there are many other times they are not, and drafts have no flow to them and when 9 of 12 people are in a room and you can bang out 5-6 rounds in a day you are stuck waiting 3 or 4 hours for the same owners every day and you only get 2 rounds done if you are lucky. I understand it's not against the rules to do that, but it would be nice to somehow get in a league where we know those issues won't occur for those of us who don't want to deal with it.

Mike, I totally understand, but it's not on Tom or me to EXCLUDE anyone from a Draft Champions League. Again, if you want to fill a draft that finishes in less than 10 days or promises to have a flow to it, then let's move the clock faster and see if we get the type of people who are always quick with the draft finger. We are there to set up such a league and of course we want the DCs to continue growing. Want more DC Express Leagues? As Tom said, we'll set them up. Want faster draft times? We'll form them.

Greg, the solution is not a faster draft clock, it is managing expectations. Drafts that get done in 10-20 days should be the mainstream, not the exception. Among other things, it's good for business ... people finish one draft, they sign up for another; when you have these interminable drafts not only do you lose out on "the next draft", you have people get frustrated and not want to do another.

If you put together a 4 hour draft it will end up being an all-star draft. I don't mind doing some of those, but I'd also like to compete against the entire NFFC player pool, not just Waz, Andy, Edelman and the like.

I think the only solution is to get like minded drafters and form your own league, as Doughy does in baseball. We did one earlier this year, 15 teams, 50 rounds in 6 days. I get it, that was pretty hardcore drafting, but it worked for everybody in the league. I'll think twice before I get into another slow draft not having some kind of idea of the pace.

Right Tom, but when you sign up you are rolling the dice ... if you hit snake eyes you can end up with a draft that's twice that long. It seems simple to me --- lay out expectations for people when they signup ... that doesn't mean they can't still ignore them, but I think most of them would at least try.
