Changes needed in defensive/ST scoring?

Most of the time when you have a runaway score, the offense of that team contributed in a major way by turning the ball over or having pick 6's. It's typically not just a poor defensive effort that leads to a huge score.

True Wayne.....It's just not right that a team's defense that loses a game 56-14 should receive double digit points for fantasy no matter what happened.

Just my opinion.

There's no doubt that it feels weird to reward a defense that gave up 56 points, but it's also hard to believe that this same defense could give up 56 points and still:

** return an interception for a TD, which added 8 points to the team score
** force and recover 3 fumbles
** sack the QB three times

You have to score all of those plays, right? So the only solution to this problem is to deduct points from defenses that give up 30+ points, 40+ points, 50+ points, 60+ points, etc. If that makes the game better, it can be added, but again those same plays above need to be scored even for a defense that looked as bad as Tampa's on Thursday Night.

In a related topic.. why do we not get points for a blocked punt? Its just as valuable as an interception or forced fumble.

Is it? A pick or fumble unexpectedly changes possession. A punt was already changing possession, so blocking it only alters where that new possession starts.

You totally change pace of the game and in most cases end up in better field possession than with an interception. So yes in an actual game I would say it is just as valuable as an interception.
