Week 4 Thoughts and Observations
Re: Week 4 Thoughts and Observations
Not sure how seriously anyone believes in the ESPN Total QBR ratings which are supposed to take into account game situations and not weigh garbage time stats the same as stats accumulated when the game is in doubt...
Anyhow reading the posts regarding Luck vs Manning and Rivers had me curious about who they had rated the highest...

He also just played 3 bad defenses. It won't continue at this pace. Now his schedule gets harder.Tom Kessenich wrote:I took massive abuse on Twitter last year when I said Luck would soon be the No. 1 QB in fantasy. None of those people have Tweeted at me in awhile. Wonder why.
BTW - Chris Ivory should play 80% of the time, including on passing downs. Chris Johnson blows. Time to accept it.

I believe Luck will be great and is playing awesome. He doesn't have the surrounding cast right now. I don't think you've been watching Rivers. He is playing at a MVP level. He made Seattle's defense look mediocre. Not an easy feat.Coltsfan wrote:Rivers is no Peyton - not even close.
What does the team record have to do with how good a QB is? This goes back to the entire Marino debate. Using a more recent parrallel, I assume that Lebron wasn't a superstar until he went to Miami and won a championship......
If you aren't watching Luck play each game then you might not have an appreciation for just how good this guy is. He's not Peyton yet but he has a chance.

The difference between Luck and Rivers is "daylight and dark". Rivers is as good as the players around him, Luck makes the players around him better.David U Kennedy wrote:I believe Luck will be great and is playing awesome. Would you take Hilton, Wayne, Nicks, Bradshaw? or Allen, Floyd, Gates, Mathews? SD defense is playing nice but not a highly talented group. Rivers is raising his team in my perception. Luck's schedule is a big contributor to his big numbers right now. Rivers has faced Seattle, Arizona, and Buffalo. Indy faced no one in that league yet. Denver D is the best so far. Night and Day you say? Watch a Chargers game and learn son. I do like Luck but Rivers is the Man right now. Rivers 1 INT, Luck 4 INT. Rivers has a slightly better completion percentage as well.

Call it what you will, but I'm loving his 2.7 yards per carry. I am reveling in it!bald is beautiful wrote:That's just stupid.KenGill wrote:Maybe Shady's lousy start to the season is a little payback *** KARMA *** from the .002% tip that he left that wait staff at the restaurant.

Re: Week 4 Thoughts and Observations
I love the Rivers bashing when no one East of the Mississippi has ever bothered to even watch him play a game. Luck is an amazing young QB and going to be a superstar for years to come, but this year Rivers is outplaying him and it's not even a question. The comments about Luck not having the same supporting cast is ridiculous, Hilton, Wayne, Nicks, Allen, Fleener and Bradshaw are a ridiculous amount of weapons at his disposal, and probably FAR superior to the Chargers weapons right now with Mathews, Woodhead and Ladarius Green out.
@Arizona/Seattle/@Buffalo/Jacksonville
or
@Denver/Philly/@Jacksonville/Tennessee
Luck better have had an amazing statistical start, that's the cakest passing schedule you can possibly have without facing Atlanta.

Re: Week 4 Thoughts and Observations
Let me start off by saying I think that both QB's are great and Luck has all the intangibles to be one of the best to ever play the game. However, how anyone can say that Rivers does not make the players around him better is beyond me. He sure is making Eddie Royal look pretty damn good right now. Rivers is playing out of his mind and this all while having the 30th ranked rushing offense in the league and one that is averaging a putrid 2.4 yards per carry. Rivers has beaten quality opponents while Luck and the Colts have only played only one. From a fantasy stand point, you are getting top three round production plus some from a guy that was drafted in the double digit rounds. I don't think either QB can keep their current pace for 16 games so some regression is expected but if Luck is ranked as 1A right now, then Rivers has to be 1B. It's that close.BigBlueNation wrote:The difference between Luck and Rivers is "daylight and dark". Re: Week 4 Thoughts and Observations
Agree with others.. Luck is and will be a tremendous QB, but that schedule was set up as perfectly as can be for him. Let's see how he does his next three games vs Baltimore/Cincinnati/Houston.
That said, Luck has 10 touchdowns inside the 10, five inside the two yard line. He benefits more than anyone else from not having a RB who can complete drives with scores.
