Re: New York ban on DFS
It was a historic day in New York City today as Judge Manuel Mendez heard over 2 hours of testimony from the state and lawyers for Draft Kings and Fanduel. No decision was made today, but the ruling should come in the next week. The judge said he'd have a ruling "very soon."

Tom and I will have Eric Fisher from SportsBusiness Journal on our show tonight at 10 pm ET to discuss the proceedings. Follow Eric on Twitter at EricFisherSBJ. He covered the proceedings very well today and will be a great guest tonight.
You knew that once the New York Attorney General said that season-long fantasy were games of skill and DFS were games of chance that the DFS lawyers would attack that argument. It's why Nevada's AG just stuck with the argument about DFS. The DFS lawyers likely proved that if one is considered legal by the AG then the other one has to be, too. Unfortunately, it might go the other way as well.
We all saw this coming and this was a big part of their case here today. What it means for season-long games, well, we'll have to see what the judge says about DFS first.

Sounds like DFS has succeeded in lumping in season long with their daily gambling, even having the judge ask how can they deem DFS illegal and not season long. And who is speaking up for season long? No one. But, on the bright side, there are 54 spots left in our FanDuel contest.

So you really don't think anyone is sticking up for season long? Give me a break. The New York Attorney General gave this opening to compare DFS with season long and they took it as expected. If one is deemed a game of skill then why aren't both games of skill? Unfortunately now we're lumped in with them on everything in New York.JETS SB wrote:Sounds like DFS has succeeded in lumping in season long with their daily gambling, even having the judge ask how can they deem DFS illegal and not season long. And don't play our weekly game if you think that helps our case. There you go.

It's just the FSTA that isn't sticking up for season-long. I noticed the FSTA website got revamped ... with slick DFS-like programming. I presume their budget is growing at a really nice rate these days.

Rick Wolf of FantasyAlarm.com redesigned that website. I'm pretty sure he donated his time on that project.kjduke wrote:JETS SB wrote:And who is speaking up for season long? No one.

I heard Scott Engel say today, that there isn't any difference between daily and season long games. Even go as far as saying, that the DA was saying that the reason daily is different because they have huge grand prizes.
Scott's response on Sirius...... "I guess he hasn't heard of the NFFC".
That is the kind of stupid shit that is gonna get us all lumped together.
What is up with all these Sirius radio personalities on their knees with Fanduel? FanDuel screwed themselves with the constant commercials while being watched closely. They should be shut down on stupidity alone.

With DFS probably comprising somewhere in the high 90s% in terms of media spend, I guess we shouldn't expect anyone attached to any type of fantasy media spend to do anything other than support DFS. Even Greg is doing it while they drive the bus over him!BillyWaz wrote:I heard Scott Engel say today, that there isn't any difference between daily and season long games. You don't get it KJ: They can run me over with or without my support. You must think I'm Superman or something that I can just stop this train with my bare hands. Get real.kjduke wrote:With DFS probably comprising somewhere in the high 90s% in terms of media spend, I guess we shouldn't expect anyone attached to any type of fantasy media spend to do anything other than support DFS. Yeah I get it. Doesn't mean you have to support them.Greg Ambrosius wrote:You don't get it KJ: They can run me over with or without my support. Please don't mention that absolutely worthless organization. It gets my blood boiling.
