New York NFFC 2017: September 1st & 2nd

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Apr 21, 2017 9:29 am

The NFFC returns to New York for a 14th straight season as the industry's only high-stakes event in the Northeast. No other contest has held live drafts in New York City, but the NFFC is happy to keep our string alive.

At this point we don't have final details on a host hotel as we're looking at three different venues right now. Tom is doing the legwork there and getting offers from various locations. There's no doubt that costs have gone up dramatically in Manhattan since we first hosted there in 2004, so we are looking at different options for football. We have to be smart in New York in order to continuing hosting these live drafts in New York City and we will make the right decision for 2017.

We have a great group of owners in the Northeast who fill up many of these drafts and auctions even before the site is live. It looks like all 12 members are returning to the New York Super League and so that one is filled before Registration even opens. I know the 12- and 14-team Auction leagues will also fill up quickly as well. It's a busy 2 days of live drafts capped by the Classic and Primetime drafts on Saturday, Sept. 2nd.

We look forward to getting Registration up soon and getting folks locked into the Early Bird Special. Remember that we are offering $100 off any Classic or Primetime if you sign up by May 21st. We also don't need any down deposit or payment until August 1st. Just sign up online and secure your spot. And just a note, we are changing credit card processors from STATS to CDM, which is part of the delay to our launch, so don't panic when you see CDM Fantasy Sports as the payment processor. Thanks all.

Okay, let's get the Schedule of Events up for New York so that you can all plan accordingly. Here it is:

I think SiriusXM likes that league. We've already had good discussions on that one. Glad it's filled already.

Love that Throwback League. Hope it fills as well.

Johnny is asking for a Super Auction league. I'm not sure there's room on the schedule for another one, but I thought I'd throw that request out there. Auctions are so popular that a Super Auction in New York is inevitable one day, right?

I'm definitely game for a $2,500 auction but like Greg said finding the right time in our two days is the question. I think the best option would be to convert the Friday 2 pm 14-team auction into a $2,500 if we were going to do it. Friday night is booked with the Super and my guess is people who would want to do a $2,500 auction will be in the Super draft that night and we can't host an auction beginning at 10 pm or later that night. Same with Saturday night and the Throwback.

So what I'm thinking is if we're going to do this it would be at 2 pm ET on Friday. In order to convert that into a $2,500 league we would need people guaranteeing they will do it and no backing out. We've had a tough time selling out a regular 14-team auction the past few years in NY so I don't want to make this into a $2,500 league unless there is a lot of guaranteed interest. Sound good?

For now it will remain a $1,200 league but if you'd like to do a $2,500 at 2 pm ET email me ([email protected]) and let me know or post your interest here. I'll keep a list and if it looks like we can make this happen we'll make the switch. If folks have another idea that will work as far as day/time let me know but given everything we have in NY with two days I think Friday at 2 pm ET is our best option if we're gonna do this.
