90 NFFC Primetime League Champions Crowned In 2023

It was another record-breaking year in the NFFC in 2023 as we finished with an all-time high of 90 leagues and 1,080 teams. That was up by 8 leagues and 96 teams from our previous high in 2022. In the last three years, the NFFC Primetime has grown by 37 leagues and 444 teams!! Thanks everyone and let's keep the growth going in 2024 and give out even more prize money!!

Jeffrey Kozlowski of Stamford, Connecticut won our $250,000 grand prize in 2023 as he beat a field of 275 teams in the NFFC Primetime's Championship Round. He became the 15th different Primetime champion in our 16-year history as only NFFC Hall of Famer Chad Schroeder has won this title twice. Jeffrey had an INCREDIBLE Week 17 as his team scored 244.15 points to jump from 46th place to the top spot, earning him the NFFC Primetime title and the $250,000 grand prize. I'm pretty sure that's the greatest comeback in NFFC Primetime history as I don't ever remember anyone coming back from 46th place in the final week to win the overall title. Amazing finish Jeffrey.

While Jeffrey won this national title, he didn't win his league title, which isn't uncommon in the NFFC. Jeffrey's championship team came from the Thursday, September 7th 3 pm ET Primetime Online League, which drafted before the Thursday Night Game. His team finished only 6-8 in that league, but it finished second in points to earn $3,400. That team was 102nd out of 1,080 teams entering the Championship Round and was still only 46th overall after Week 16 before having that miraculous finish. Never give up in the NFFC, folks, never give up!!

While Jeffrey didn't win his Primetime league title, we did have a lot of great champions and a lot of new champions. Of the 90 leagues we hosted this year, 24 different owners won their first Primetime league titles. Last year we had 28 first-time Primetime league champions and in 2021 we had 21 first-time Primetime league champions, so it's great to see so many new players joining this contest and excelling. That always bodes well for the future of this 12-team contest.

We had a lot of owners who had great seasons in 2023, but none better than NFFC Hall of Famer Chad Schroeder. He had an incredible regular season as he won 10 more Primetime league titles, giving him a record 39 Primetime league titles in his career and 18 over the last two years. It didn't work out for him as well in the Championship Round, but the 10 league titles in one year is definitely a record as he again had a big season. He has now won 25 NFFC Primetime league titles over the last three seasons and he continues to be the NFFC Career Earnings Leader with over $2 million in winnings. Wow.

NFFC Hall of Famer Mike Santos won four more NFFC Primetime league titles this year and now has 17 league titles, second only to fellow NFFC Hall of Famer Chad Schroeder. NFFC Hall of Famer Glenn Schroter won one league title and is now tied with Kimra Schleicher for third place with 12 league titles.

Nelson Sousa also won four NFFC Primetime league titles this year and now has 11 career league titles, tied with Clark Olson for fourth best overall. Chris Eibl also won one league title and now has 12 NFFC Primetime league titles to join Glenn and Kimra third overall. NFFC Hall of Famers Michael Edelman and Chris Vaccarro each won their 9th NFFC Primetime league titles for fifth best overall.

Randy Mechels also won three NFFC Primetime league titles this year and joins Michael and Chris with nine career league titles. Duke Viveros also won three league titles in 2023 and now has six for his career. The following owners each won two NFFC league titles in 2023: Danny Mueller, Mike Kuzma, Louis Weber, Bob Catsiroumpas, Matthew Shepherd and Vincent Staffilino. Great job guys.

Winning Primetime league titles for the first time included these 24 owners: Scott Schonewolf, Peter Overzet, Robert Fagan, Thomas Ruelas, Matthew Dugan, Bryan Rhodes, Robert Delaney, Steve Elbaum, Philippe Dussault, Henry Muto, Eric Karlovic, Dylan Flashner, Thomas Libretti, Marvin Correia, Brent Krutzig, Scott Stauffer, Greg Thorpe, Darren Larson, Marc Meltzer, Ashley Perry, Vincent Staffilino, Lynn Renfroe, Louis Weber and Robert Zirkel. That's an impressive list of first-time league champs, so congrats to all.

We had a total of 90 NFFC Primetime leagues in 2023 and here we are showing the draft spots for each league champion this year. It's interesting that out of 90 leagues, pick number 7 didn't have a single league champion. That usually doesn't happen.

The top two spots in the draft were tough because of injuries to Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase. They produced only 5 league champions, compared to 18 league champions last year. This year Third Round Reversal helped the back end of the draft as the majority of the league champions came from picks 10, 11 and 12. Pick 12 produced the most league champions with 15, followed by pick 3 with 11 league champions, thanks mainly to Christian McCaffrey. Pick 8 followed with 10 league champions, while picks 9 and 10 each had nine league champions. It was spread out pretty well, which is what we usually see each year thanks to Third Round Reversal.

Just a note that Puka Nacua was also on 24 NFFC Primetime league championship teams. He was drafted on 15 of those teams and added via FAAB on 9 of those teams. Early NFFC Primetime leagues likely saw Nacua go undrafted, so adding him before Week 1 was critical for some teams. Well done everyone.

Kyren Williams was drafted on all 20 NFFC Primetime championship rounds; he was not picked up via FAAB in NFFC leagues that won titles. Cade Otton was actually the Free Agent pickup who was on the most NFFC Primetime league championship teams (23), while not being drafted on any of them. Just an interesting note.
