We are excited to announce today the introduction of the first NFFC Guillotine National Championship in the industry.
The NFFC Guillotine Championship will debut in 2025 with a $5,000 grand prize, the first time anyone has offered overall prizes for this unique game format. We are including all four price points we offer in the NFFC -- $50, $100, $200 and $400 -- and each league will put 1x of their entry fees to the overall prize pool. The four teams from each league that made it to the League Championship Round will also compete in an overall Championship Round with the highest scoring team earning the $5,000 grand prize.
This could be the WILDEST Championship Round in any of our NFFC national championships because the rosters will be completely different. In the Guillotine leagues, the lowest scoring team each week over 13 weeks is "chopped" and their entire roster is then available in FAAB. The key is to survive 13 weeks without ever being the lowest scoring team in your league, while managing your $1,000 FAAB budget when superstars are coming to the open market every week. Since each league has different "chopped" teams every week, the final Championship Round rosters could be very different but also very loaded.
This should be a lot of fun. Last year we finished with a total of 94 Guillotine leagues -- our biggest year for this format since it was introduced in 2019 -- and prizes for our national contest are based on 100 leagues. We will still pay the Top 3 in each league, but now we will also be guaranteeing a $5,000 grand prize and paying the Top 10 teams overall.
With four teams from each league making the overall Championship Round, we could have 400 teams in the Championship Round for Weeks 14, 15, 16 and 17. The overall standings won't start until Week 14 because every week is a new week of scoring in each of the individual leagues. But once we have the four finalists from each league, they will then start scoring points in Week 14 and the team with the most points from Weeks 14-17 will be determined the overall champion. Should be fun.
Those Top 4 teams in each league will also be competing in a League Championship Round during Weeks 14 through 17 and we'll pay the Top 3 finishers in each league. First place will earn 8x the entry fee, second place will earn 3x and third place will earn 2x.

If you haven't played this format before, here's the lowdown: These are 17-team, 16-round drafts using Third Round Reversal. That's right, 17 TEAM LEAGUES!!! Each team has only six bench players because every week the Free Agent pool will be full of new, good players from the "chopped" roster. One team is chopped in Week 1, leaving 16 teams left. Then after Week 2, there are 15 teams left. Then 14, 13, 12, well, you get the point as we'll be down to four teams after Week 13. Avoid scoring the fewest points in your league in any single week and you'll make it to the Championship Round in Week 14. And if you like FAAB, this is the ultimate league as new players are in the FAAB pool every week and you have to spend wisely over 13 weeks to get superstars and yet don't run out of FAAB money. It's a harrowing problem to have. Anyway, enjoy and good luck.
We can't wait to crown the industry's first Guillotine overall champion in 2025, but there will be a lot of "chopping" to be done before then. We expect another record season for this format in 2025 and we hope to grow this overall prize pool every year going forward. Thanks for spurring this move by us to form a national championship as we saw the strong demand for this contest last year. You proved to us that it was time to offer a national championship and to crown the best team that survived 13 chops and four weeks of an intense Championship Round.
Good luck everyone and enjoy.
