NFFC Online Championship To Award $50,000 Grand Prize
I think we are making a mistake again on how we are picking 1st and 2nd place. Last year I pointed this out as well. If your taking points leader 1st then H2H 2nd then that doesn't seem to fair to me when the points leader is also the Head to Head winner. If you take the points leader 1st then the H2H winner the guy with the 2nd best points will be shut out. Shouldn't the 2nd best points win the $700 in the case the points leader and H2H winner is the same person ?
If your 2nd in points 200 ahead of the H2H person who had the 2nd best H2H record and they win the $700 that is no good. I belive the Classic rules have it right as it goes H2H 1st then points 2nd. Why would you not do it the same for the online league ? Remember we talked about this situation last year.

The second place finisher in points should be in the money.

NFFC Online Championship To Award $50,000 Grand Prize
Here are the classic rules
Teams will play every other team in their league once in head-to-head competition and if a team finishes Week 13 with both the best overall record and the most total points it will win $5,000, with the next highest point total team finishing second and winning $2,500
This is the better way to do it if the 1 team has both points and H2H record. 2nd place is the person 2nd in pts not the 2nd in H2H which by the way the online rules read (as it was last year as well) the 2nd H2H gets 2nd place.

But the Classic is 14 teams. Shouldn't we be comparing this to the Primetime, which pays top points and top H2H? If it were changed to the top 2 points leaders, then H2H would be completely irrelevant.
And thanks for the "outsmarting" kudos Greg!

The Primetime has the same rules as the Classic. I just picked the Classic as the example, if you like I can use the Primetime example as well it makes no difference.
Here are the primetime rules
If a team finishes Week 13 with both the best overall record and the most total points in their league it will win $3,000, with the next highest point total team finishing second and winning $1,500

And thanks for the "outsmarting" kudos Greg! So you are saying your ok with this type of league finish ?
$1,400 winner has 2,000 pts and 12-1 record
$700 winner has a 10-3 record and had 1,600 pts.
$0 and 3rd place goes to the guy going 9-4 with 1,900 pts.
So you think that is fairer ? Just asking.

I can live with it. Oh wait... I DID live w/ it last year in our Classic! We were tops in points and started the season 9-0, but lost the last 4 games. The H2H winner was 10-3 and a few hundred points behind us. And you're right - in a 14-team Classic, it was good to see the 2nd highest points team also still make the playoffs.
I hear what you're saying. But if that's the case, why have H2H competition each week and records at all? Because a lot of people like the weekly battle (I could care less personally). But I've also heard people make the counterpoint that "Who says the 2nd highest points leader was the 2nd best team?". For example, what if they had 2 or 3 really big weeks, but sucked the rest of the year? OTOH, maybe the H2H winner consistently scored 130+ and was right in every game. Which team is "better"?
Another aspect of this is that, though many of us would prefer to see the highest points teams get all the spots, if H2H were removed, we might lose a lot of teams and not have such big prizes. I'd bet there are many teams who want to take a shot at swimming w/ the sharks and competing at this level, but LIKE the "luck" element of still having a shot, even if their teams aren't as good. And as much as this peeves some, we need their money.

Head to head wins 1st place. If H2H is what matters the most to you then they should be the 1st team into the playoffs. So it does matter. The person who has the most wins makes the playoffs 1st. 2nd seed goes to the highest remaining points team. That is how I see it and how I think most people see it.
