Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Jan 05, 2005 4:59 am

I'm happy to report that Bret and Nancy Borg of San Diego, California are still married and still madly in love now that the NFFC season is over, even though their Wedded Blitz team didn't finish in the money this year! Bret and Nancy competed in Las Vegas League 5 and led Wedded Blitz to a 7-6 record, a fifth place league finish and 1,648.6 points, good enough for 75th place overall during the regular season. Their team finished 80th in the Consolation Bowl and I've been told they had a great, great time. Bret and Nancy worked as auction facilitators in Las Vegas last year and I think everyone had a great time as Nancy was our Vanna White of the sticker boards for that event! Anyway, they signed up within one hour for the 2005 event yesterday and will be returning to Las Vegas for the NFFC's main event and will likely help out with our auction leagues. Welcome back you love birds and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize. I'll see both of you in Las Vegas on Sept. 2-3.

Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Jan 05, 2005 5:10 am

It takes pretty thick skin to have the type of year that "After The Fall" had last year and still be among the first signups for 2005, but thankfully Rick Hart and Gerard Sambola have VERY thick skin. Hart, of Pawley's Island, South Carolina and Sambola finished with a 3-10 record in Las Vegas League 3 last year, despite finishing with 1,624.95 points, the fifth highest in their league and 90th best overall. Tough matchups led to the poor h2h record, but Rick realizes that comes with the territory. After a year in Las Vegas, the duo has signed up to compete in the NFFC's main event at the Chicago Oakbrook Marriott on Saturday, Sept. 3rd and have added the Draft Champions League as well on Friday, Sept. 2nd. Rick said his goal is to meet everyone in the NFFC and he may just draft in New York in 2006 to accomplish that goal. Ya gotta love TamuScarecrow and his partner. Welcome back guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize, the $5,000 league prize and the Draft Champions first place prize.

Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

Is there a more passionate celebrity fantasy sports player in the country than the rock star Meat Loaf? I'd say not. Meat reportedly was in over 40 fantasy baseball leagues last year and he competed in our NFBC main event and NFBC NL Auction League last year, while also competing in the NFFC's main event. His Spin Cycle Agitators team finished tied for second place in Las Vegas League 1 with an 8-5 record and was fourth in total points with 1,704.85, just missing out on a money finish while finishing 48th overall during the regular season. Meat Loaf was a first-day signup for the 2005 NFFC in Las Vegas and will return on Saturday, Sept. 3rd to knock heads with all of you guys and gals again. Thanks for trusting in us again, Meat, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

Our next NFFC signup was so close to $5,000 this year they could taste it, but they left the year without cashing out at all. The tag team of Carlos Perez of Ontario, California and Brian Rich led Ponch & John to a tie for first place in Las Vegas League 3, finishing 10-3 but losing in the final week to miss out on the $5,000 on the points tie-breaker. Ponch & John also finished fourth in the league in total points to miss out on the final payout, finishing 43rd overall in the regular season and 22nd in the Consolation Bowl. It was a great year for the duo, who said they had a blast, even though Gordon Gekko made out of their league to win the $100,000! :D Yeah, that fact is going to sting a while, right Ponch? Right John? :D Anyway, they've already signed up for the NFFC's main event in Las Vegas on September 3rd and will be back in full force. Best of luck guys in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize and get ready for another great year.

Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

Few guys have been more loyal to our family of high-stakes events than Ken Magner of Freehold, New Jersey. He not only enters every event we offer, he brings in other die-hard fantasy players to play in them as well. Ken competed in all three NFFC leagues last year and will be back for all three in New York again in 2005. His teams battled injuries most of the year as his sackofpotatoes finished in third place in New York League 2 with an 8-5 record, just missing out on the third place money when his 1,660.7 points were only good for fourth place (19 points out of third). Sack the QB finished 4-9 in the Auction League and Sack the QB finished 10th in the Draft Challenge League. No problem, Ken says as better results are in store for 2005. Welcome back to the NFFC, Ken, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and $5,000 league prize in the main event, the $4,250 first place prize in the Draft Champions League and the $4,000 top prize in the Auction League.

John and Jay Flake of Sparta, New Jersey came oooooohhhh so close to winning a free entry in 2005, finishing fifth in the Consolation Bowl, just 2.2 points out of that vital fourth spot. The duo led their Jersey Generals to a 6-7 record in New York League 1, finishing 95th overall during the regular season with 1,615.45 points. They immediately signed up for the 2005 NFFC main event at the New York Hilton and plan on taking that next step up. Thanks for the strong support, guys, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

Michael Edelman of Elmwood Park, New Jersey and Keith Lewandowski led their Incredible Hulking Us team to an 8-5 finish in New York League 2 this year, taking home the second place prize with 1,750.95 points, while finishing 31st overall during the regular season. They had a shot at the $100,000 grand prize, but finished 21st during the Championship Round. Great job, guys. Now they are expanding their exposure in the NFFC next year, signing up again for the main event at the New York Hilton on Saturday, Sept. 3rd and adding the Draft Champions League in New York on Friday, Sept. 2nd. Best of luck guys in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize, the $5,000 league prize and the $4,250 first place prize in the Draft Champions League.

Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

Let's give it up for another returning NFFC member as the tag team of Frank and Jason Ferreira of Nashua, New Hampshire was one of the first signups yesterday. Team Ferreira finished 7th in a tough New York League 5, finishing with 1,644.45 points during the regular season, good for 79th overall. The Consolation Bowl didn't go as well, but both guys said they had so much fun they can hardly wait for the 2005 season to begin as they are returning to the New York Hilton on Saturday, Sept. 3rd for the main event. Thanks for trusting in us again, guys, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.
