Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Apr 15, 2005 8:27 am

Let's keep welcoming back our members from 2004 to the 2005 event and not stop until we sell out! Let's give it up for James Mack of Wallington, New Jersey, who will be back at the New York Hilton on Saturday, Sept. 3rd to defend his NFFC league title. Mack's Grizzly Glaze finished in a FIVE-WAY tie for first place last year in New York League 5 with a 9-4 record, winning the tie-breaker with 1,786.5 points to earn $5,000. Grizzly Glaze finished 21st overall during the regular season and then finished 26th in the Championship Round with 516.43 points during the race for the $100,000 grand prize. James becomes the 50th owner from 2004 to return in 2005. Thanks for your trust and support, James, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We welcome back one of our most loyal participants in our two high-stakes events to the NFFC as Aaron Seefeldt of Northbrook, Illinois has just signed up for the Chicago $650 Auction League on Friday afternoon, Sept. 2nd. Aaron's Sweetness team finished 5-9 with 1,697 points in the Las Vegas/Chicago Auction League last year and his Any Given Sunday team finished 6-7 in Chicago League 2. He will be teaming up with Richard Weiss for this year's auction league as they will be competing at the Chicago Oakbrook Marriott. We now have six teams signed up for that auction league, leaving us with eight more open spots. Thanks for your trust and support, guys, and best of luck in the hunt for the $3,350 first place prize and the $650 best record and total points prizes.

It's good to welcome another new member to the growing NFFC family as Joseph Maggio of Newtown, Pennsylvania will be joining us at the Palace Station in Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 3rd for the main event. Joseph is new to our family of high-stakes events and we welcome him with open arms. Joe e-mailed me last night to inquire about the NFFC and took no time at all to throw his hat into the ring for the $100,000 grand prize. Thanks for your trust and support, Joseph, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize. Oh, and the first beer is on me in Las Vegas!!! :D

Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

We're starting to run out of NFFC hats as we are giving them to the first 100 signups for the main event and now have given out 63. We're glad to welcome back our 51st member from the 2004 event to the 2005 event as Scott Stauffer of Duluth, Minnesota will return to the Chicago Oakbrook Marriott to compete in the NFFC's main event and the Draft Champions League. We now have 15 signups in Chicago for the main event and four for the Draft Champions League, a good start indeed. Scott's Out Of The Shadows team finished fourth in Chicago League 1 last year, just missing a money finish with a 10-3 record and 1,686.7 points. That was good enough for 55th during the regular season and his 559.60 points during the Consolation Bowl was good enough for 23rd overall. In the New York/Chicago Draft Champions League last year, Out of The Shadows finished sixth with 2,253.95 points. Scott is currently competing in our National Fantasy Baseball Championship and has been a loyal member of our high-stakes family over the last two years. Thanks for your continued trust and support, Scott, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize, $5,000 league prize and $4,250 first place prize in the Draft Champions League.

Let's give it up for our 52nd returning member from 2004 to the 2005 main event as Kevin Wall of San Pedro, California will be returning to the Palace Station in Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. Kevin was one of our last entrants in 2004, but he made up for lost time by winning $5,000 in Las Vegas League 1 with a 10-3 record. His 1,701.55 points was good enough for 50th overall and he finished 15th in the Championship Round with 570.14 points. Kevin becomes our 32nd signup in Las Vegas and 64th overall as he's excited to return to Las Vegas to defend his league title. Thanks for your trust and support, Kevin, and best of luck once again in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

I'm glad to welcome another league champion back to the NFFC in 2005 as Martin Bedell of Poughkeepsie, New York will return to the main event at the New York Hilton on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. Marty's MGBS109 team won New York League 4 with a 9-4 record, winning the $5,000 tie-breaker by finishing with 1,800.2 points. That was good for 16th overall during the regular season and he finished 23rd in the Championship Round with 533.43 points. Marty has also been in our National Fantasy Baseball Championship the last two years, so we thank him for his continued trust and support. Best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and $5,000 league prize, Marty, and the first beer in New York is on us!

I'm glad to welcome yet another new member to the growing NFFC family as Rick Gromek of Big Bear City, California has agreed to participate in the NFFC's main event at the Palace Station in Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. Rick was a first-time member this March in our National Fantasy Baseball Championship, competing in the NL Auction League while attending a Chicago concert that weekend in Vegas! Rick and his son had such a great time in the NFBC that they thought they'd join us for football in September, taking their first shot at the $100,000 grand prize. We now have 66 signups for the main event, 33 of them in Las Vegas. Good luck, Rick, in baseball's auction league and thank you for your trust and support in the football event. Best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize and remember that the first beer is on me!

We're glad to welcome back our 54th team from the 2004 NFFC's main event to the 2005 event as the tag team of Jim and Tom Jensen of Fairchild, Wisconsin will be returning to the Chicago Oakbrook Marriott on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. It's always good to welcome a fellow Cheesehead to the competition! :D Team Jensen finished with the second best record in Chicago League 4 last year, going 10-3, but finishing out of the money as their 1,564.05 points failed to crack the Top 3. They struggled to a 125th place finish in the Consolation Bowl, but had so much fun that they are diving back in again. This signup now gives us 16 owners in Chicago and 67 overall for the main event. Thanks for your trust and support, Tom and Jim, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We hate to see any NFFC partnership split, but when it results in an additional team for the 2005 event, you gotta love it! :D George W. Melbrod Jr. was a co-manager with Mike Cameron in last year's NFFC main event and he's a partner in Mike's NFBC team this year as that team is currently in second place in Las Vegas League 6. Team Cameron competed in Las Vegas League 5 in the NFFC last year, finishing 6-7 with 1,488.45 points and 461.5 points in the Consolation Bowl. Mike will return again in 2005, but this year George has decided to take his own team in Las Vegas. George becomes our 34th team signed up for the main event at the Palace Station in Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 3rd and the 68th team overall. He's even interested in the Friday Draft Champions League and we hope to convince him to join that later. Anyway, thanks for your trust and support once again, George, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

Splitting up seems to be the theme of the day as our second signup today comes from another breakup. Team Diesel is parting ways in New York this year as Marc Quitsch is already signed up for the Draft Champions League and may be going solo in the main event and Auction Leagues. His former partner, Eddy Betancourt of Woodhaven, New York, just signed up for the New York $650 Auction League and is ready for a money finish. Eddy hopes to join the Draft Champions and main event later on and we'll keep a spot for him. For the record, Team Diesel finished 6-7 in the Auction League last year with 1,638.2 points, just missing the playoffs. Not that this had anything to do with it, but Eddy says it was Marc's idea to make the final bid for Hines Ward! :D Anyway, welcome aboard Eddy and best of luck in the hunt for the $4,000 in available prizes in the Auction League and hopefully we'll get you in the two other events, too. We now have five spots taken in the New York Auction League, leaving us with nine more before we fill it up. Keep 'em coming.
