Who's Coming To The 2005 NFFC?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Aug 15, 2005 2:30 am

We start out the day taking signups for our 17th league in the NFFC's main event and our seventh league in Las Vegas. Let's give it up for Lee Friske of Odessa, Texas, who becomes our 139th returning member from 2004 as he's coming back to Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 3rd for the NFFC's main event. Lee led his War Ensemble team to a 6-7 record in Las Vegas League 2 last year, finishing with 1,424.1 points and 476.80 points in the Consolation Round (106th overall). Thanks for your trust and support again, Lee, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We welcome back our 140th team from 2004 to the main event as Robert Tedesco of Des Plaines, Illinois will be returning to the Chicago Oakbrook Marriott on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. Bob led his SpearmintRhino team to an 8-5 record in the very close Chicago League 2 last year, earning third place league money while finishing 35th overall with 1,735.05 points. Bob got a taste of the competitive nature in the NFFC last year and this year he said he's out to win it all. I like it Bob, I do. Thanks for your trust and support again, Bob, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We'd like to welcome back another returning member for our event as Todd Lewis of New York, NY will be back for Year 2 of the NFFC. Despite having a loaded backfield with Alexander, Dillon and Barber, Lewis dealt with some injury issues last season and finished with a 6-7 record in NY League 6. He's expecting better health and a better record this year. So good luck in the quest for $100,000 and the $5,000 league prize Todd and thanks for placing your trust back in us again.

I'm on the road today, so I'll let Tom give the official announcement of this signup tomorrow, but I know that David Longood is returning to Las Vegas for the NFFC's main event. David and his son, Ross, are knee deep in baseball leagues and were in first place in the NFBC Ultimate League the last I looked, but David signed up tonight for the NFFC's main event again. Thanks David for becoming our 142nd team back from 2004 and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

All right, let's kick off another day of NFFC signups by welcoming back another of our 2004 participants. This time, it's Brian Maguire of Louisville, KY who will be joining us for both the main event and the $650 Auction League in Vegas. Brian competed in both last year and had a tough time in the main event, finishing 3-10. His auction team went 7-7. Brian's expecting bigger and better things in 2005 and we're happy to welcome him back in the battle to win the $100,000 prize in the main event and the $3,350 first-place prize in the auction league.

Our 2004 class continues to be represented in 2005 as David Deterra officially signed up today to return to New York. David's team went 6-7 in New York League 5 last year and he has his sights set on the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize this year. So welcome back David and good luck this season.

While nobody likes to see a good partnership go by the wayside, we have to admit that here at the NFFC we're not terribly disappointed when teams split up and decide to dive into the main event with two separate teams. That's happening again as New York's Adam Miller is parting ways with his buddy Glenn Karant to form his own team this year. We're happy to welcome Adam on board with his own team this year and wish him luck in the quest for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.

With Adam Miller now on board we have closed out our sixth league in New York, which is making a strong run with Vegas for the top honors in terms of total sign-ups.

The 2004 participants continue to return as Sal Vulcano and his co-owner Joe Savarese are back in NY. Sal had a rough debut season in the NFFC, going 3-10 but he's planning on a much better season in 2005. Welcome back guys and good luck in the quest for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.
