Week 1 Thoughts
A stat that jumped out at me came from the Bears game. Did you know that the Bears DEFENSE and Special Teams accounted for 21% of their scoring last year? The rest of the league's Defense+Special Teams scoring average was 9% of their points scored. Cutler doesn't look as thought he's going to change that much.
Did anyone see the BOGUS "roughing the passer" penalty on Trent Edwards? He BARELY got rid of the ball as he was knocked down clean. Unreal. I guess "knockdowns" won't be counted anymore, because they will now all be roughing the passer?
Is Joey Galloway just not clicking with the Patriots' system, or is he just done? He was my double secret sleeper. One more game of this veteran running routes like he has no idea of what's going on, and I may have to reconsider announcing my top sleeper picks for Greg and Tom to print in their mag! lol
How about Cadillac Williams? I thought I was watching the movie RUDI...The fans were going crazy in the first half, and Caddy was running like he had new legs. If you saw this game or have it on Tivo, go to the point where he had his longest run of the game( I think in the second quarter). He asked for a rest, and as the announcers were talking about what a greay story Caddy coming back was, the cameras caught ol' Caddy throwing up on the sidelines...UGH...Funny but gross...BUT FUNNY...lol

Speaking of poor officiating, I feel like that was the worst weekend of missed/poor calls I can ever remember. Maybe these guys need a game or two, but I can recall 10+ complete misses.

Yes Diesel, I saw the horrible roughing the passer call on the Pats last night at Gillette. The whole stadium erupted into the usual "Bull Sh.t" chant for awhile.
Week 1 Thoughts
I also think Bush is a horrible pick in the 3rd or 4th round. He's coming off micro knee surgery. He's just way too much risk.I would rather take Santonio Holmes or Ocho Cinco in that round.
Colston is also overated and he's slow. With all the weapons that New Orleans has i would expect games just like that.I would say 75 to 80 catches 1000 yards and 8 td's.Still good numbers but they could also be too high.

Week 1 Thoughts
One of my biggest pet peeves in pro sports is stupidity. OK, that's one of my biggest pet peeves in life.
Seriously, I can't understand why seemingly intelligent people who are paid a lot of money to do their jobs can screw up the most elementary of plans. I mentioned this with my Chris Johnson comment. That was so insanely idiotic how the Titans missused him in the opener. The fact that people with years of NFL experience botched something so freaking obvious was mind boggling to me.
But it happens all the time.
Matt Forte would be another example.
Yes, Forte got a lot of carries against the Packers. But how many receptions did he have?
Zero.
If a defense is scheming to take away your talent, do something to get your talent more involved. How about running a screen pass or two (or three or four) for Forte as a way to get him the ball in space and throw the Packers off track? I haven't coached or coordinated a single game in the NFL in my entire life but I guarantee you that was something that needed to be done by the Bears Sunday night and they didn't do it.
It never ceases to amaze me how the most simplest of solutions can be so often ignored.

Tom,
Great point with Forte AND C Johnson. I kept waiting for the Titans to set up a screen to Johnson or get him involved in some other way via the pass. Maybe I don't know enough about a defense... is it because the Steelers play a 3-4 defense, they are too fast?? I mean... the way they were using C Johnson wasn't working anyway with the exception of one 32-yd run that Johnson created on his own anyways when he changed directions.
As for Colston being slow, I'm sure that's why he slipped in the nfl draft coming out of Hofstra. I wouldn't call Roy Williams, Plaxico, or B Marshall fast but they make up for it in other ways.
Is it just me or could R Meachem put up better numbers than any other Saints WR this year outside of Colston. I read he was on the field for more plays than L Moore.

Week 1 Thoughts
I always find week 2 to be extremely telling from a Fantasy perspective. It confirms whether your good scoring teams are indeed real as well as possibly letting you know if your not so good ones really are filled with this seasons busts...I for one am hoping to see more of the former this year.
Never do card tricks for the people you play poker with.
Week 1 Thoughts
Slaton was another RB this past week that wasn't used effectively. His pass catching ability is what makes him such a weapon. I didn't find myself in a position to get him this year in any leagues, but I had him last year and I know what he can do. Houston just didn't play smart this past week.
Also, I know his stats don't show it, but anytime Mewelde Moore gets the ball, you get the feeling he can break one open for a TD. He is the best RB on Pittsburgh. If SWP doesn't become FWP, we might see a changing of the guards at RB.
