948 Teams In The Online Championship: $60,000 Grand Prize

Post by Tom Kessenich » Thu Aug 04, 2011 3:01 am

We have now topped 200 signups for the Online Championship. We have been getting around 25 signups per day. There's no question we'll reach our goal of 300 teams. Heck, it may even happen by the weekend. :D

Seriously, though, we want to thank all of you for showing so much enthusiasm and interest in this game. Keep those signups coming and let's see if we can get to our max goal of 720 teams with a $50,000 grand prize.

We have topped 265 signups for the Online Championship. That means we have fewer than 35 GUARANTEED spots remaining in this event. At the rate we're going, we'll go well beyond our projected goal of 300 teams but those first 300 are the only ones guaranteed. So if you're waiting to sign up don't delay too long. This event continues to generate huge interest. Thanks to everyone for your interest thus far.

Considering that our original goal was to reach 300 teams in the Online Championship, I'd have to say we are ECSTATIC to announce today that we already have over 330 teams signed up. We have already announced an increased prize guarantee of $40,000 based on 600 teams and will grow the overall prize pool beyond that with each additional league over 50 leagues. This has the potential to be a big payday for someone.

And the league prizes in this format are also the highest in the industry, with each league paying $2,100. First place gets $1,400 and second place earns $700. The top 2 teams in each league advance to the Championship Round for a shot at the $40,000 grand prize. Our hope now is that it grows well beyond and we think it will. Signups for the September leagues should be brisk as the total increases.

Great job everyone and take a look at the League link and Registration page for available dates and times. It's tough to beat drafting at home, on the computer and as many times as you'd like for a shot at $1,400 and $40,000+. Good luck all.

We have more than 460 signups now for the event. Our goal is 600 but we are on pace to go well beyond that figure. That means the $40,000 grand prize will rise as well. Keep the signups coming.

We're over 500 teams and counting for the Online Championship. Signups continue to pour in every day. I think people like this format.

Remember that the $40,000 grand prize is based on 600 teams and that the overall prizes increase with each additional league past 50 leagues. Last year we finished with 60 leagues, 720 teams and a $50,000 grand prize. It looks like we can top all of those numbers at this rate. You'll decide how big the grand prize gets once we go past 600 teams. Thanks all and let's keep the numbers rolling.

Greg / Tom...

How much advance notice will we get from our registered draft date regarding whether our league has been filled and what our draft position is?

Thanks

Mike

We try to provide around a week or so notice for leagues that are full. Given the high volume of leagues we're going to be filling up the next three weeks I can't promise that we'll always have that seven-day window of time but that is what we are hoping to provide.

Mike In the future, we're going to fill leagues much closer to the draft dates and still run KDS for each league. I think we can program the Registration page and the KDS process in a way that makes that happen and give owners more access to when leagues are close to filling. That's going to get done in the future for all of our baseball and football online offerings and it will be a nice upgrade. I'm convinced it will lead to even bigger numbers for our online contests, too.
