Greg/Tom: How did you guys come up with your auction values in your mag?

Quahogs, I agree with you completely on the personality part. He's Type A and just can't sit still and the fact that Jerry Jones catered to him had to thrill him to no end. He loved it. He has an ego and that can be a good thing in coaching.

Gordon, good question. We actually got past auction results from last year and then used our past experience in auctions to form the values. We must admit that a 14-team auction was tough to come up with values because we were unaware of many out there. We felt confident about what the top picks would go for, but the third RBs and WRs for each NFFC team was tough and even the quarterbacks were tough. We look forward to securing the Auction League results from the NFFC and being even more accurate with our dollar values next year.

I think comparing the prices that people paid for each top player in the various cities will be fun to do.

Auction prices are only good for the first few picks. Than the market takes over. Value is where you can find it.

Gordon, be nice. John is in all three just like you in Las Vegas, so you boys will have plenty of time to get to know each other.

I agree the Auction Leagues will be fun and finding the right value like John said is the key. You need a few stud players for sure, but $1 guys in this auction could determine the eventual league champions. I'd love to get multiple Auction Leagues in each city, but we'll see how many guys do more than one event.

Actually I had one of my colleagues write a program to come up with auction values using my projections. I've been modifying it the past couple of days. I should be ready to go in the auction. No excuses.

I agree with Walla and Gecko that the auction draft is BY FAR going to be the best of all the events (wish I would be in Vegas to battle against you Gecko!)

Anyhow, I have been doing auction drafts for 7 of the last 8 years with a $200 cap and 18 players (pretty close, huh?) and I recall the better QB's going in the $50's (almost same scoring, 6 per TD, etc.), but now that everyone thinks that QB's "grow on trees", their stock is definitely down.

On a different note, the most a player ever went for was Marshall Faulk back in 1999 or 2000 - $82. It was a lot to spend, but he was THE MAN and was worth every penny!

I really think that the QB's and WR's will go for more $$ than in the magazine, but if they don't, then Holmes & Tomlinson should definitely go for close to $80.

I CAN'T WAIT for September 3rd!!!

Thanks guys for staying up with me tonight. Gotta run as tomorrow is a new day. Looks like there is another live high-stakes event that was cancelled this weekend, but I need to look into that more. It's tough out there, but we'll definitely be around on Sept. 3-4 in New York, Las Vegas and Chicago. Come join us if you can make it.

YOu can dial somewhere back on these message boards and follow my explanation that Drew Henson would obviously be the rookie of the year in the NFL.

I believe Greg and Tom were going to leave him off their 'rookies to watch' list originally ;)

Fact is he's every bit as good as Eli Manning - but nobody remembers that. He would have been the concensus #1 overall pick...

Just my .02 - please let me have him in the latter rounds of my draft in September.
