as for your example above, can you explain how that would work? how many teams make the plaoffs and which teams make it? [/QUOTE]I know you weren't Mark, but that is why my individual case was a bad example. If you found someone for example who was 8th in total points and ranked in the mid 100's that was leading their league in H2H, I think you would have sold your point a bit better.
As for my proposal, I haven't put a ton of thought into who would get 1st place $$, 2md place, etc. and who would make the playoffs, etc.
I gotta run right now, but I will think more about it and post later today.

PS - SCRAPPY COCO has the best record in Chicago 1 and they are 8th in points.

H2H isn't really helping me in both leagues but I still like the weekly format. There is alot of luck involved here but we all knew it when we signed on.

Total points isn't better, it is only different. You are correct sir.
Actually it's harder to be good every week than to blow up 2 weeks out of the year and claim superiority.
Maybe Billy's schedule was easier.
Maybe it will get harder?
That is all points against indicate.
Score 75 points in the NFL and you get one win.
If you want the best record, set your team up to perform each week.
If you can't win at head to head, go for points and stop complaining about it.

I am Commissioner of 2 football leagues. Three years ago I started scheduling doubleheaders each week of the regular season. It has gone over very well. You have to set the same line-up for each match-up. It definitely improves the odds a little that a team will not have as bad a record if they run into bad "points against luck".
For example, Team A has the 2nd highest score. If they played the team that had the highest score they get a loss but at least will win the second game to offset the loss a little.
I can think of no negatives to playing doubleheaders. It is nice to have 2 match-ups to follow each week of the regular season. I do not think we will ever go back to playing one game each week.
I would be interested in trying a league that used all-play each week. If Greg offered it I would join for sure. If my team has the 3rd highest point total of the week, getting a 9-2 record (12 team league) seems very reasonable to me.
Talking about major rule changes is interesting but gets complicated. The system that is probably best for determining the strongest teams might cause more people to lose interest late in the season. Using all-play or total points is obviously more fair than using won/loss record. But, late in the season our current system of combining points and record allows more teams to feel like they still have a chance in one of the two categories.
Maybe the top 4 (12 team league) or top 6 (14 team league) in power ranking making the playoffs is a good compromise.
On the topic of owners giving up, how does Greg handle it if any owners stop trying and start many bye week and injured players? That is a bad situation where you may be in a close race with a team near the end of the season and they play someone who has given up and starts 2 or 3 injured players. If someone shows that will stop trying if they are having a bad season, are they allowed to join a league the next season?

Now if the NFL had an All-Play format, the Packers might be ahead of the Cowboys and Bears, instead of fighting for their playoff lives.
Sheesh, scheduling is a factor in the NFL as it is in fantasy football. But carry on and I'll watch the responses. But GG, as the starter of this thread, don't jump on every post that goes against your thought process. Let the ideas flow. Don't bully this thread the way you want it to go. That doesn't help anyone.
