Maybe he's even out for the season. You're proposing that teams who started Hasselbeck in Week 3 could get an automatic 33.33?
Now let's say the player in question was Chad Pennington, who also had a Week 4 bye this year. If he put up crazy totals (75-80 points combined) in Weeks 1 and 2, wouldn't teams still be playing the WW Game to make sure they got an almost guaranteed 25 points out of their QB in Week 4?
Those are the flaws I see with that proposal: (1) players would be started who could be injured or otherwise worthless and (2) the WW game would still be played -- especially early in the year where the averages could be more set.

As somone who has some whats success and totall objecive since my teams are lets say irrelevant. Just like we cangre our draft order. Think h2h is passe. Total poiintd for the season is the true gage of how good of an owner you are regardless of bye weeks. The 2 point scorin teams at years end rgardless of h2h should be i tne show. It is more of a refletion of who are the better FF , p. League drwa obviously will determine top2 that go to show but if league is week and h2h winner wind league with with 5th total point total for that league, i6t diminishes from that 4th lace finisher who was 2nd in points. Who is the better player?
Just an opinion

Best H2H
Total Points not H2H
Best All Play not H2H or Total Points
All three make the Overall Championship Round!
All three have a League Championship Round!
Pay out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd based on Total Points Week 14-16
What is the drawback to this set up?
This offers everyone the format fo their choice.
Derek "Lumpy" Anderson What if an owner is 1st in all three of these?
Why should he have to be forced to be in a playoff?
John, its a 16-week season not a 13-week season. That's why he should be forced into a playoff. The Pats didn't win the Super Bowl by going undefeated in the reg season.
I like Lumpy's idea.
To respond to Greg's objection that it doesn't reward the first 13 weeks enough ...
a) See above, and
b) How about adding to playoff an equal weight of regular season points? So, with a 3-week playoff, each team would start with 3x their regular season average, thus the reg season has real significance.

Total points leagues are ghost towns.
H2H leagues are living, breathing debate centers!

KJ, we have a playoff. It's for 100K. NE doesn't play in the playoffs to see if they win their division.
Top h2h and top pts now doesn't play in a playoff if it's the same team, why should adding a 3rd cat result in 3 teams?

you deciding who to draft and play is all skill.
Serious sir.
Group think does not prove a point.
You are using circuitious logic to win your point. Using opposition points to prove that H2H is flawed is defining your end point as your proof.
The highest scoring team will always (on average) have a statistical advantage when looking at points against because the highest scoring team never plays against the highest scoring team.
Your variance argument isn't satisfied by total points either. You have the age old argument of soft league vs tough league. In a soft league your total points will give you an advantage over teams in other leagues.
So your best hope of achieving your goal of "fairness" is to use All Play but if you really want to minimize varience you would need to have an Overall All Play.
But Total Points is a flawed parameter of measure of the best team just as is H2H.

Agreed Lance.
I used to be an all-play proponent. I got over it, they're as dull as total pts lges
I play Fantasy Jungle every yr which is an all-play set-up. Guess which of my teams I watch closely all day long on Sunday, and which ones I check in on after the day's over?

This is the first year I tried Fantasy Jungle and I typically check it Tuesday morning to see how it went. But the NFFC team is up on the computer screen all day on Sunday and I know exactly which players I'm going against that day.

Man, a lot of you seem to exude a "Weekend Warrior" type mentality. INSTANT gratification or INSTANT death
Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?
