Total points vs all-play
Team scores 190 points week one. Then scores around 100 the next 3 weeks. Their total points woud probably still be near the top. Their all-play record would not be as good.
In my opinion, all-play is a slightly better indicator of a teams strength than total points. The way to implement all-play without it being boring, in a way in fact which makes the week-to-week more interesting, is to implement a dual-win system where each week the top half of the lge get an extra win and the bottom half an extra loss. [/QUOTE]Thanks was just going to post.

Question for you. With regard to this thread/topic you started (and have talked about in other threads). Do you propose the NFFC main event switch to an all play format? Or are you just venting standard H2H frustrations but really do not think the NFFC needs to change? If given a chance, I'm always looking to improve an event I participate in.

Gekko,
You sure are not shy about knocking/belittleing those who may prefer a format different to what you like... Guppies? lol
So if I read correctly... you are saying you would like the NFFC main event to move toward an all play format and eliminate H2H right? I completely respect this opinion and just wanted to clarify if this is what you ideally would like to see.

Whether that is doubleheaders, etc... I don't know. It's a worthy discussion.

Funny as it sounds, the remedy to H2H is more H2H. Could any of our many Stats Majors put a number to how much the luck factor would be reduced? Ted?

HMan83 HMan - this doubleheader idea might be something good. i'll think about it, do the research, and talk directly to Greg if needed.

Top h2h and top pts now doesn't play in a playoff if it's the same team, why should adding a 3rd cat result in 3 teams? John, I think I am arguing that it should be a 16-week season for the top teams. The shorter the season, the more random luck comes into play ... the more weeks, the more luck evens out.
Accordingly, allowing the best 3 teams into the playoffs makes it more likely that the best team over the entire season will end up winning. From a customer standpoint, it makes the league more exciting for more players, too, just like adding the wildcard in the NFL kept more teams and fans involved deeper into the season.
In the NFL, 37% of teams make the playoffs - in the NFFC it's only 14%, seems to low. I think allowing 3 teams in is enough, but you could easier argue for more than 3 rather than less following along the NFL model.
