to the 49er's???

There are rumors that since the 49ers have so many picks (don't know the exact number) they may try to move up and take stud WR Calvin Johnson.

What would this do to his value in everyone's opinion?

I personally think it would decrease, as I am not a big believer in Alex Smith.

Thoughts?

I really think the Bucs are going to end up with him. That makes the most sense to me.

Doesn't make me like Chris Simms any better, though.

Tom, does Jeff Garcia really end up backing up Chris Simms?

Maybe to start the season but I think he starts at some point. Simms is garbage.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions took Johnson but I think it's in their best interests to move him. I'm not a Simms fan. I thought he was average in college and is nothing more than a backup in the NFL. I think he's garbage as a starting QB.

Billy,

I also think that Gruden is going to do WHATEVER he has to do to try and get CJ07.

The 49ers do have the picks to make a move for him and I personally would rather have him go there than to the Bucs. I think that Alex Smith is going to be an above average QB this year and would be happy to have him as my #2(even without CJ07). Smith, Gore, Davis and CJ07 would create a potent nucleus that could deliver the 49ers to the playoffs this year and all of these kids could be Fantasy Gold for years to come.

As a Raider fan I would love to see Al pull the trigger and pick this kid and if I had the first pick, no matter what my needs were I would take him. The Raiders phone will not be ringing on draft day and after all is said and done they will select JaMarcus.
My mama says she loves me but she could be jiving too! BB King

Billy, that was a belly-laugher...LMAO

TCH, Gruden should cut Michael Clayton or trade him for a LATE LATE draft pick...Trade for C. Johnson and start Garcia. INSTANT OFFENSIVE SUCCESS.

The 49ers have 8 picks in the first 4 rounds, 4 4ths 2 3rds, the idea is that they would package the 1st, a 3rd and 4th to the Lions for CJ and get an offense that can score in all ways possible, with Gore Vernon Davis and maybe Lelie as the deep burner. Drafting Aln Branch or Carrikker would help the D, but Calvin would make this O special, it would be something to look forward to,trading up for a special playmaker, then draft DL 2nd and 3rd rounds.
