(But I agree no more FA pickups weighs in to this equation.)

Hey folks,

First, let me attempt to be a diplomat for a second. I will agree that calling people dishonest when you don't know them is a bad idea. Even if it is just implied. Trust me...I have been there and I have done that (see my postings from the start of the season)! This group of "message board all-stars" are not just outstanding fantasy football players...it is obvious they are among the nation's elite at the game. They have no real reason to be dishonest about their opinions (unless it is part of the game....as in poker, nothing wrong with that). Second, we all share this hobby, and for that reason alone we should at least respect each other's taste in pastimes. I personally am honored to be in the same league as last year's champ. I hope that I win (and I beat him, BTW...kinda like the Raiders beating the Steelers), but I will not make character judgements based on fantasy football results. Being good at the game doesn't give anyone the right to belittle anyone else personally. Third, talking about a person's team and talking smack about the game is completely different than slandering the person themselves. In fact, if we personally slander each other, we all lose credibility and our fantasy football smack talk takes on "an edge" that ruins it. So, I propose a "truce" on the personal attacks and "game-on" regarding the football smack. Finally, let me be the first to start....Gekko, the Blue Footed Boobies are comming for you! I know that you are thinking....hey, if I can just gain two games or get to second in the points, I can still squeeze into the playoffs. Sorry bud...unlike last year, you now have Blue Foot to contend with. I am going to squeeze out that spot, not you! I know what you might be thinking about my team...all my players are injured except for two QBs, one RB, and a PK, and I am out of FA money...so, the Boobies are not a factor. That is your mistake! You are going to play Lundi down the stretch and it is going to cost you even more than the draft pick you wasted on him! So, Champ...what say you?
I AM BLUE_FOOT.

Why would anyone disagree with this statement? Anyway, any player, including Westbrook could go down at anytime. I lost 2 of my three starting WR each of the last two weeks. That's the breaks, its luck, and to be honest...it is some of what makes the game fun. Now, that being said, I always try to remember when my team is being ravaged by injury...these are real people with real careers and real injuries. So, while I am disappointed that my team has suffered so many injuries...it is just a game for me, while it is real for the players! Of course, depth is important and may factor into the who wins. But, the team that wins will also probobly be lucky enough not to need their depth anyway. So, lets cut renman some slack....he was asking a legitimate question. The question (the way I see it is this)...is it the time of year to go with your basic roster and hope for the best or is there still time to find free agent gems? Blue_foot...

A man who thinks for himself! Nice to see that here once in a while. I see 3 pages have already developed here since my last visit. I will read them after posting this. At least you get it...lol Keep in mind, if you don't blindly follow the message board crowd you wont get any snickering private messaging from one of the message board all-stars talking within the secret club...lol

King of Queens,

Did you give my team some love? I appreciate that. Though you did not add the great Sammy Parker to my roster. I actually was thrilled to get him this year and thought he was going to be productive. Not to be. I only have two kickers and defenses because last week my kicker and defense both had byes. I likely will lose a kicker this week but might keep two defenses for matchups.

As for acknowledging the message board all stars? Unlikely...lol I actually went into the 2004 NFFC playoffs thinking I had a stud team and outside of winning my league, my team fell on its face. So I will be cautiously hopeful and leave it at that.

gekko,

I added that one thing in editing my original post for 2 reasons...

1- to make sure I did not confuse any of the other primitive posters who make it their lifes passion to go through posts to find something to mock.

and

2- to see if you would embarrass yourself by needing to comment on it as if you discovered gold...

ugly yellow,

You seem like a nice guy too. Which makes me wonder why you are so fragile as to get offended by a figure of speech.

If I say "you can't honestly think Brad Johnson is a viable fantasy football starter now" I am not calling the other person a liar. It is semantics. You seem smart enough to get this.

Eddie jag,

I appreciate you breaking ranks and daring to not attack the unpopular guy by following the angry mob...lol I drafted Colston. When the Saints traded Stallworth, I though that was sending a huge message given Horn being an older player. I figured this kid had shown something special and figured I can roll the dice on him late in the draft. It clearly worked out well, but obviously I was lucky. I think anyone who has a big fantasy season has to hit on a deep sleeper or two or catch a break with an injury or RBBC situation working out to their advantage. I appreciate your kind words about my team.

Gekko,

I now have gotten through 2 pages of this thread and post after post from you is a short, angry, frustrated message copying something short, usually out of context, followed by something insulting. Don't you get bored of that?

Youve been really bitter and mean latley to a lot of people, is this how you deal with blowing your main event.
I know why your so upset, because BBDS isnt going to happen, go kick your dog or something , because its getting old. Nice post Ed. You have won from every different draft spot we've given you in both baseball and football. GG, you do need new material on Eddie G. He is a KICK ASS player and it's time to move back to ripping someone else or turning a new leaf. In fact, Eddie G may have already topped your winnings in both contests by now and you won it all in Year One of the NFFC.

You need better customer service if you're really going to start up that competing high stakes league you mentioned before. I may be away, but I'm not blind.

~Lance Wow,

It is amazing what happens when people who think for themselves, have a little confidence mixed with logic, and are here to talk about football as opposed to those playing petty "whaaaaa, i wanna mock and attack you cause it makes my message board pals laugh whaaaaaaaaaa" games...

Lance, you get it. The funny thing is I was just trying to make a benign point to start a thread that actually talks about football. The first thing that popped into my head was that all teams will be at full strength this week with regard to byes. I really just wanted to fuel some football chat given so much tenth grader stuff goes on here on this board now.

You would think I committed a crime.

I may be away, but I'm not blind. i'm just tired of getting the beatdown when it comes to draft slots. ask ed how many times he's recieved a top pick. now ask me. i'll tell you the answer is ZERO for me. three years in the NFFC and NFBC and i've never had a top pick (or even top 3). i can live with my bad picks, bad management, etc...but for this kind of money it's becoming tougher to live with crap draft slots. just being honest (and jealous).

ps - nothing against ed - i'm just jealous of his random luck with draft slots. that's all.

Gekko,

I never thought you were bad. Over the years at times I have enjoyed many of your posts. I think you are a good fantasy player and really know your stuff. I think you add some good ideas. I think the BBDS thing (which I think you came up with) is very innovative and interesting. However I think you would be honest (wait, that word is not popular here..lol) in saying that at times you do get a little hostile here. I am sure I do my part to add to it when I feel I am being attacked in an unreasonable way.

With how much you bring to the discussion of fantasy football, I would much prefer you and I have enjoyable productive exchanges than hostile ones.

First ... that is a poor example ... Why not use an example like "I just want guys to be more HONEST about what they say on the MB" and " I support BBDS but I just want guys to be more Honest about it!" ... How is that just a figure of speach?

Second ... you continue to say you want to talk football ... than use labels like "PRIMITAVE POSTERS" ... Hmmmm ... Just more semantics.

Third ... Retarded is just a word ... you want to playfully call others dishonest ... fine ... you will surely be OK with others calling you a retarded dishonest idiot. It's just semantics ... lighten up you retarded dishonest idiot!

Fourth ... I waisted my time with MP's telling you that people are insulted by your questioning of their intergety ... if it's just semantics ... are you incapable of changing it ... why does everyone need to get used to being called dishonest to please you?

Fifth ... people don't need to get used to crappy labels others like you put on them. I will NEVER accept you calling me dishonest as have you tell me to just get used to it because it's semantics (to repete myself for the 10th time). The example you tried to use was intentionally inaccurate and purposefully misleading you retarded dishonest idiot (thats just semantics on my part so I'm sure you wont be offended)
