Dallas having one or two leagues may be a plus. Chicago, Vegas, Online all in play here. As much as I hate to say it but I could hit the Powerball tonight and still would be on hold for another month.
Remember what I told Tom in an earlier thread, I'm tracking who's going where to take advantage of the best situation. He thinks every city is tough but he knows better. Having drafted with him in a Mag Auction, maybe he doesn't.
Chicago was not the place to go last year with Gerczak, Benetti, you, RC, Big Mike, etc. and not enough leagues to thin the competition. Vegas with 8 leagues last year was nice except for the Roger Goodell wannabes. This year, still waiting and watching and I may not be alone. Rick,
Don't shy away from the competition!
You are a great player, and it doesn't matter who is in your league. In the past 3 years in 14 team Classics I have had Glenn Schroter (twice!), Derek Anderson, KJ Duke, Mike Weber, Wayne Ellis, Dave Zwickel, Rob Benetti, Dave Gerczak, Dan Thomas, etc. in my leagues. I finished 2nd twice, and 3rd once. If you are good (and you are), you will win, place, or show!!
So what you are saying is that if I would have done the online the last two years I could of won 100K!!!???
Seriously Rick....you like to have fun, and with the ponies and pizza in Chicago, you won't be disappointed!

The ponies, the pizza, and my Chicago comrades are definitely a draw. But looking at last year's stats, lots of online league members in the top 30 so your online comment may have merit. I remember you and I finishing 1-2 in points in our Chicago league in 2006 so competition isn't an issue. Benetti in Buffalo, Gerczak pissed at the planet because it doesn't agree with him, Arlington Park, Lou Malnati's, lots to like about Chi-town. I also did a mag draft with Wayne Ellis and thoroughly enjoyed it so I wouldn't mind meeting him.
Just have to talk Gerard into it. Unlike VA., Louisiana requires private school to get an education and he's paying a fortune just to get his 2 boys through JUNIOR HIGH in New Orleans. May need to hit a nice one at the dog track next weekend.

I would be great if you could make it to Chicago! I always look forward to great competition. I was actually in the Chicago 2006 League 2 with you and Billy. That was my first NNFC experience and we put together an average team (actually the worst in points we have ever had in the main event) but managed to take down first in the league. Yes we got very lucky!
Anyways, I hope that Chicago works out for you this year. We always have a great time!

Mike Sheets of Fanball has run the last two live events in Chicago and Mike and two others from our St. Louis offices will be there again. They did a great job in baseball and I'm teaching them how to bet on the ponies now!! We'll work with any of our customers going there to have some fun before and/or after the drafts in the area and bring the type of camaraderie we're trying to present in all of the other cities. I'm trying to see if we can get some Arlington Park tickets too if folks want to go inside that beautiful facility at some point.
I think we'll be fine for Chicago. Darren Fecich just grabbed a spot in the auction league, Scott Shudy will sign up soon and we have others who competed there looking to come back. Not everyone signs up for Chicago three months in advance because many folks drive there. I not only think we'll be fine there with an auction league and a DC but I think our mains will be good too. Chicago always gets later signups, but we should have 3 or more leagues there like we've had in the past. Honestly, this space is perfect for 4 and no more. That's what I'm shooting for and everyone will be close to a bar (there are 2 in the room), close to a TV (there are dozens in the room) and close to the bathroom (you all have to share one)!! Sound good?
This is going to be a great venue. I'm convinced of it.

We're glad to welcome Darren Fecich of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to the Chicago trifecta in 2010, which is appropriate since we're hosting the drafts at Arlington Park Trackside!! Darren won the two free entries for the Classic and Primetime by winning the points title in the Primetime and for winning the Combined Standings among the Classic and Primetime. He's coming to the Windy City to do it again and adding the Auction Championship to his weekend of fun. Welcome aboard Darren and congrats on a fantastic 2009 season.
