OK What did You miss on or mess up on?

Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Oct 05, 2009 10:22 am

Two years ago, LT scores on the run he had near the goal line last night where he slipped. He just looked bad on that play. There was a hole there and he couldn't get to it. I agree with Doughboys that he looks like he's lost the fire he once had. He really looks like a shell of his former self. If the bye week doesn't do him any good, I think the Chargers should just go with Sproles as the primary ballcarrier and see what happens with LT in a complementary role.

It's not like their season can get any worse.

Missed big on the other Steve Smith - didn't think he was their best WR coming into the season, and didnt expect Eli to throw this much.

But I didn't miss on LT.

But I didn't miss on LT. I'm with you on Steve Smith. I thought Hixon was the guy this year. WRONG!

I loved watching LT. LT loved being LT. Now, he is Edgerin James without Joseph Addai to push him. He can stick around like James or Emmitt and play it out. But, I go back to that body language and feel that the inner pride won't let him. We will see who is right. I believe you are looking at it from a fans point of view. Judging body language? How fired up he looks on the sidelines when injured or his team is getting blasted by the Steeler offense? I will say the same thing I said in another thread debating this same issue.

There are expert player personnel executives who have their careers on the line in this WIN NOW league. We fans are evaluating some stats from last year, some plays we saw on tv and "body language." Mind you if we are going by last years stats he was 7th in RB points (so someone else said). The player evaluation experts I referenced have miles of game film, access to all practices with film, one on one personal interaction with the player, info from the strength and conditioning coaches, OTA's, training camp, the pre season, private medical reports, years of professional expertise regarding player evaluation and we are to expect these guys would jeopardize a WIN NOW team in a WIN NOW league by playing a broken down player at one of the most important positions on the field with nothing but a 175 LB scat back (sproles) and career injury prone and/or suspended (bennett) as their only RB insurance?

The guy sprained his ankle. I am of the opinion he still has enough left in the tank and enough professional pride and enough all around immortal skill, and plays in a good enough situation to produce good numbers if healthy.

It will be interesting to see what happens from week 6 and beyond.

L.T. is done, he's basically Darren McFadden now.

Renman, how much have you actually watched L.T. play this season and last?

I'm a Chagers fan with the Ticket, so I've watched L.T. play basically every game for a few years now....heck, I became a fan of him when I watched him play at TCU.

He no longer has the lateral movement that made him so dangerous. It was evident last season when he was unable to get around the corner OR make people miss. There were many runs last season when the younger L.T. would've busted off a long gain, instead, he barely gained a few yards.

He can no longer move sideways the way he once did. If you cannot make people miss in the NFL, you will not be a good running back. This is why I was so down on Darren McFadden, the guy cannot elude one single tackler in open field....(I'm still dumbfounded by the love DMC received this year and last)

Anyways, it is sad for me to see it, but L.T. no longer has the skills he once possessed that made him the best back in the league. The grass blades have tackled him more than once this season(like McFadden) and he lacks the speed he once had even if he makes it through the hole.

I agree he will "do some things" once he gets back into the flow of playing, but to think he's still a top 5, even top 10 back the rest of the season is ludicrous....and to think Darren Sproles is a "carry the load" back is even more crazy.

He's not overly talented, but the Bolts made a mistake when they waived Gartrell. I watched him a few times at CSU and he's a decent back, provided there's a good line in front of him. It wouldn't surprise me to see him have fantasy value running behind the Giants line.
FAITH IS NOT BELIEVING THAT GOD CAN....
IT IS KNOWING THAT HE WILL

Where are the CEO of Lehman Bros and Countrywide right now? I see this stuff firsthand. There are people in position of power in all phases of business and society who couldn't identify their own hand in front of their face. The blindspots come in many forms, whether laziness, lack of judgement, wishful-thinking, excessive risk-taking, or just plain ol' believing their own BS. Whether or not LT is done or not, this line of reasoning is flawed.

[/QUOTE]What's really flawed is the Chargers Offensive Line. No one seems to be talking about that in this LT2 is done or not done discussion. Hard for LT2 to run behind that injury riddled line.
