Prize Structure For NFFC Satellite Leagues

Although it is pointless, I'll voice an opinion for no H2H and to spread out the winnings more, rather than 1st place getting such a large chunk.

I am among the group that wants to try to limit luck, good or bad, as much as possible. Eliminating H2H, helps reduce some luck.

Speaking of luck....

In August, I have two weeks of vacation, then I work one week, then I have two more weeks of vacation. I am on vacation for four out of five weeks.

I work 2nd Shift.

Take a guess at what one week out of five I work?

I bet you got it right.

Hope you all enjoy the satellites and I look forward to playing in them next year.

I'd be all up for a Draft Champions satellite league! I like JP's idea for $55 for a free 2006 DC, or I would play it for $100 for a free NFFC "main event" entry.

Greg, any chance we could have one of these DC leagues or a $100 "main event" league start LATER than 8:00 EST? From August 22-25, I am available everynight but Wednesday (the 24th), but 8:00 would be cutting it real close, as I coach X-Country from 6:00-7:30.

It would also be beneficial for our friends on the Left Coast to have a later start time.

Just a thought!

Awesome Greg!

I've been waiting for an update.

I'd like to join the $1,000.00 league, and if had the choice...would like it to be only points for the 16 weeks...no luck. Boring...not really...and no excuses to giving the 8 grand to the winner...he won, fair and square.

Not a lot of enthusiasm on the boards. I wonder if the late start might keep the 2005 numbers down. Next year owners will be looking for the side games and they should start in July. Looks like the other event has close to 400 Satellite entries which I'm sure has included folks here.

A critical factor for success will be flawless on-line drafting software. That, more than anything, will attract players or, conversely, turn them off forever. Xpert had a glitch and created quite a few unhappy campers.

Greg, you guys better do some test leagues inside Krause and accept only zero problems. Better to cancel then to use software that has errors, is hard to use, is slow, or has bad settings. I think 2 minutes is necessary to allow any think time at your turn. It's not a live draft where after 90 seconds you can just shout a name. On-line you have to find the name and go through whatever process is required. That takes time. Test, test, test.

If you want to run some test drafts, I'd be happy to be one of the testers. As a former interface designer and expert in qualitative consumer testing, you would get feedback from both your target customer and from consumer experts... both being me

I'm talking to a lot of folks who are excited to do the NFFC this year and the satellite leagues. Trust me, I'm not shooting for 40 satellite leagues and it's great that those guys are having drafts in July. We'll get our group fired up in time for drafts a week before our live event and get football cooking here during August. The satellite leagues are designed to bring in new customers and to let our current customers have an initial run and we'll expand that format in future years if we're successful right away. It's better to walk before we run.

No question on the testing of the software. That's why I'm going to Chicago tomorrow to meet with the STATS guys. We had a glitch in our online software for the NFBC mid-season leagues and it was no fun to apologize over and over to those guys who did the first night of drafts. Then the next two nights went off without a hitch and everyone had fun. The online auction league Gordon is talking about also had glitches, which is separate from anything STATS is doing.

We'll definitely test this and do it right. That's why I have no desire to cram too many leagues in each night. If we do 1-3 per night, that's good enough for me. The interest will be high enough to reach that goal and begin another component of the NFFC that I believe will eventually be very, very successful.
