KDS would not be necessary as these two team captains (Jesse and Greg) would choose the slots for their members. Each team captains would select their other 5 members and then they would go at it.
A coin toss would determine who gets:
1,3,5,7,9,11, and 13
or
2,4,6,8,10,12,and 14
3RR would be used.
WCOFF scoring would be used since there would be 14 teams and the use of 3RR. Great suggestions Rob! As long as I'm on the NFFC side, I'm all for it!

New League Idea Best of Best WCOFF vs. NFFC
Russ, you might research this - there have been numerous posts about a league(s) like this in past years.
The one that made the most sense was to have two leagues - one for each format and THEN to add the combined scores - so there would be a winner in the 12 team WCOFF League and a winner in the 14 team NFFC League and a combined NFFC or WCOFF win for the total of their thirteen entries.
But really this is up to Greg and Jesse to work out - set dates; choose teams; possibly put up prizes and in general promote a combined event. Clearly with both of them playing in the "other" event this year, they are well on the way to promoting FF together.

I didn't see any mention of this coming about this year.
I'd be good with the two-league format, but I also like what has been proposed by Rob above.

You cannot ever achieve the best of the best between both leagues. I can't play in both leagues. Sorry.

HEY RUSS DO YOU HAVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS. I HAVE A FEW IDEAS AND INSTEAD OF CLOGGING UP THE MESSAGE BOARD I COULD EMAIL YOU MY THOUGHTS.
New League Idea Best of Best WCOFF vs. NFFC
If you want a "best of" rules approach, I would suggest:
* 14 teams, KDS/3RR
* WCOFF offensive scoring
* NFFC defensive scoring (wcoff defensive scoring makes drafting a defense an afterthought; there is so little variation between best and worst it's hardly worthy of a pick).
I'd be up for this, or a dual league with one draft in each format and combined scoring. Both good ideas.

This has been discussed and dare I say that both Greg and Jesse have their plates overflowing right now so this discussion (not new by the way) is likely geared for the 2008 season.
The concept of having two leagues, one using each format has also been discussed and using the cumulative scoring for a team total. Each team could get the first pick in the other teams format.
I would suggest that no money be required and maybe a traveling trophy should be created that would be held by the winning team for that year. Kind of like that little brown jug thing in College. The winning teams MVP would be engraved in the trophy and each owner would get a chance to show it off for a month or so. Kind of like the Stanley Cup?

Or it could be like the Baseball All Star game whereby the winning team determines the format for next year.
Example: If the NFFC wins this year, next years Challenge would use their rules. If the WCOFF team won, then next year they would use the WCOFF system.
The first year would be determined by a coin toss.

Make it an annual event whereby winner of WCOFF and winner of NFFC select their own all-star team from previous year's competitors in each contest.
Coin flip determines which team gets to choose odd slots (1-3-5-7-9-11-13) or even slots, or gets to choose their first all-star team member first, coin flip loser gets choice of opposite first. In successive seasons, no coin flip, just even/odd and choice are alternated annually.

If this ever happens...in order to be touted as "the best of the best" it can't be a typical satellite signup.
All past grand champions of each event should have first considerations...followed by lifetime standings. Forget auction winners and satellite champs. Only the main events get consideration.
Anything less...and all you have here is another satellite with the "team event" feel to it IMO.
