I Have The 8th Pick In The FantasyGuru.com Magazine League
As many know this is my favorite Expert league that I compete in. The winner receives a big-screen TV. I've had a rough couple of years in this one so I want to get untracked in a big way in 2009. The first half of the draft will be on Friday at 1 p.m. ET. We'll then finish up with the remaining few rounds in August.
I have the 8th pick. This is a PPR league with no playoffs. We play through Week 16 and the winner with the most points at the end of the season is the league champ. Here is the draft order:
If one of the Top 5 RBs on my board (AP, Forte, MJD, Westbrook and Johnson) somehow fall, I'm going to take them. If all of them are gone, I'm considering taking Fitzgerald if he's there. I'm even giving some consideration to going WR-WR and grabbing someone like Bush or Grant as my RB1 in the third round.
Any thoughts from you experts on what I should do? I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

You drafting WR-WR.....I'll believe it when I see it.
If you want to go for it, then don't draft conservatively. Don't just fill slots. Draft reception guys with the biggest upside. You have nothing to lose. I'll PM you some guys that IMO fill this criteria this year.

In a ppr league I'd select both S Jax and Gore prior to a WR and I'd also probably take either of them before C Johnson in a ppr league.
Fitz is tempting after his post season performance, but it's hard to believe Warner will stay healthy in 2 consecutive seasons; and imo Leinart would crush his value.

56. Witten Tom, I don't really like any of the primetime league picks there except Portis. I wouldn't feel too good with Gonzo as my #1WR either

#8 is tricky. No way you get AP, Forte, or MJD. Either Johson or Westy should be there. You will get a decent RB and a top 5 WR either way you decide to go.

I'm hoping Johnson is there. If he is, I'll pounce. If I take him or Westbrook then I'll be looking at WR in the second. If one of my Top 5 RBs is gone I'll give SERIOUS thought to Fitz or Andre Johnson at 8 and then see what's there in the second. Bill chuckles but don't be surprised if I go Fitz-Moss and then jump on the RBs in the third and fourth rounds.

Tom,I think fitzy is great, but Warner is the key,Andre I think will be the man this year,Moss with him would be great, but I think he'd be gone right before you and decide on if you like Brandon Marshall or Colsten. The DREAM scenerio is A Johnson and Calvin Johnson..

Yea I love Calvin Johnson this year. I think he has Top 3 WR potential. Last year's Classic champ (Tom Yates) went WR-WR-WR. I'm not sure I'm THAT bold. But the key to that strategy working is to nail your RBs in the fourth round and beyond. Tom did that, getting Thomas Jones and Chris Johnson. So if I went WR-WR, my margin for error at RB is extremely small. Ryan Grant is someone I like and sure to be there in the third round. Would a Johnson-Johnson-Grant start get me the foundation I need? Or Johnson-Johnson-Pierre Thomas? Or grab Moreno?
I'd be looking at one of those scenarios and honestly none of those scare me by any means. I need a changeup in this league and maybe going WR-WR is the way to go. I won't pass on Westbrook or Chris Johnson to do that, though. I can't pass on Westbrook at 8 in a full PPR format and I'm way too high on Chris Johnson to pass on him if he was on the board too.
