Tom, you could do a lot worse than Westy/Moss! Goodness, that's a terrific start to a team. Good luck!!!
2008- Didn't finish last overall in the Classic.

Tom,
Westbrook or Gore at 8 would be a steal! But you have to get backups for at least 2-3 games for both of them in later rounds because they both miss a few games due to being nicked up.
Last year I went Fitz, Moss 1,2 and like you said got the core RBs late, Turner, Slaton, De Angelo after round 3. Great team!
If you go RB at 8 you will still have a top10 Wr and maybe 2 top 15s at that spot if you don't go WR WR.
Who picked Gonzo as their #1 WR? I just can't see that!

tom
if you think moss will be there in rd 2, then i'd take "the burner", jax or gore at 8 and hope bush falls to me in the 3rd.

RB, moss, bush looks pretty good to me.

I'm not big on Turner in a PPR league in the 8th spot. I'd probably pass on him. As much as I like Gore I think 8 might be too high for him.

At this point I think I'm locked into the following approach in the first round:

Draft one of these five RBs if they're available - Peterson, Forte, MJD, Westbrook, Johnson.

If all five of those RBs are gone, I'm going to seriously consider Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson. If both of those WRs are gone I'll probably take Jackson.

If I take a WR in the first, I'll give very serious thought to taking Bush in the second. Getting Bush at 17 in a full PPR league is a sweet pick. If I go RB in the first I may (reluctantly) pass on Bush because I believe the talent at WR will drop off rather significantly early in the third round. So if I want a top-flight WR, I'll likely need to take him in the second.

hypothetically speaking of course

if you take jax at 8? if both are available, do you take moss or bush at 17?

I'd probably take Moss reluctantly. I think Bush as a RB2 in a PPR league is sick value but again I think the talent at WR drops off significantly early in the third round. So if I want a top WR - and in a PPR format I think it's critical to have at least one - I don't think I can go RB-RB and hope one falls to me in the third.

In the KP1 Experts League - probably a good gauge for what I can expect in the Guru league - all of these WRs were gone by the time the 8th pick selected in the third round:

Fitzgerald
Andre Johnson
Moss
Wayne
Calvin Johnson
Boldin
Smith
White
Jennings
Bowe
Colston
Welker
Marshall
Owens
Houshmandzadeh

That's pretty much your Top 15 WRs in a PPR league. It's possible one of them would fall to me in the Guru league but I'm not sure I can take that chance. So if I go RB in the first round, I'm pretty much locked into taking a WR in the second unless something really crazy happens.

You'd be better off taking Frisman over Steven.

This draft starts in less than an hour. I'll post the first 2-3 rounds and my roster through 14 rounds (we have to draft a legal starting lineup today) when we're done. A reminder this draft can be viewed in its entirety in the Guru Magazine which will again be part of our Goodie Bag for the NFFC. So sign up today for the live event or better yet, sign up for both and get $100 off as part of our early bird discount and you'll be all set.

Round 1
1. Jones-Drew
2. Peterson
3. Forte
4. Tomlinson (John Hansen with a surprising pick here)
5. Jackson
6. Turner
7. Chris Johnson (DAMN, that's who I wanted)
8. Westbrook (My Pick)
9. Williams
10. Gore
11. Barber
12. Fitzgerald

I'll be targeting one of the top WRs in the second round. But Slaton is falling. He'll be real tempting if he's still on the board.

Round 2
13. Andre Johnson
14. Calvin Johnson
15. Slaton (great value pick here - end of the first round looks real nice this year)
16. Moss
17. Wayne (My Pick)
18. Boldin
19. Portis
20. Jacobs
21. Steve Smith
22. Jennings
23. White
24. Colston

I'll be targeting a WR in the third but if a RB is there I really like or a stud QB I'll go in that direction.
