The Rams are a mess but Avery still did well last season despite that. And now he has a year experience under his belt. I view him as a pure upside pick who could deliver WR2 numbers as my WR4. In a flex league, I like that value. The RBs just didn't excite me much. I could've gone TE, though, but I got Cooley a little later and he's still a solid TE.

I will say my RB3 situation is a concern, though. I would've liked to get one more solid RB given Westbrook's durability issues. I'll have to hit on some backups and third-down guys now the rest of the way.

Handcuffed Westbrook in the 9th with LeSean McCoy. So I'm set there. Still want one more decent RB. There is a starter left but it's Jamal Lewis.
Jamal Lewis.
Ugh.
Nothing special at all but he is a starter, has zero competition for carries and getting a starting RB in the 10th round is pretty nice value.
Will I get him?
Should I draft him?

I understand why he'll be picked in the area you selected him. But watching him last year he didn't seem very "special", and although Holt was hurting a good portion of the season; I believe Avery benefitted greatly by his presence. If defenses view Avery as St Louis's main receiving threat this year and defend him accordingly, I believe he may be hard pressed to even equal last year's ststs.

Thank God, somebody took Lewis. That is nice value for him though.
I'm targeting Jamaal Charles in the 10th as my RB4.

Got Charles. Very happy with that pick as my RB4 (actually RB3 since I have the two Eagle RBs). Here's my roster through 10 rounds. Four more rounds to go today with the final six being held in August:
QB-Cutler
RB-Westbrook
RB-Grant
RB-McCoy
RB-Charles
WR-Wayne
WR-Welker
WR-Holmes
WR-Avery
TE-Cooley
Pretty happy though I really wanted Felix Jones.

I could see Charles being this year's Kevin Faulk. Mega receptions and a smattering of TDs.

Took Muhammad as my WR5. Rock solid guy who had a productive season and should be productive again in 2009. A fine WR3 in PPR leagues who I can use as a matchup play, during bye weeks or when injuries hit My roster through 11. I'll take my backup QB, defense and kicker to close out the first portion of the draft:
QB-Cutler
RB-Westbrook
RB-Grant
RB-McCoy
RB-Charles
WR-Wayne
WR-Welker
WR-Holmes
WR-Avery
WR-Muhammad
TE-Cooley

My roster for the first part of this draft:
QB-Cutler
QB-E. Manning
RB-Westbrook
RB-Grant
RB-McCoy
RB-Charles
WR-Wayne
WR-Welker
WR-Holmes
WR-Avery
WR-Muhammad
TE-Cooley
K-Hartley
D-Jets
COMMENTS: I'm pretty happy with this team. My goal coming into this draft was to load up at WR this year. I've left myself short there the last couple of years and I think that's contributed to my disappointing finishes. But I don't think I did that today. I love my top three WRs who I all have ranked in the Top 25. And I love Avery as my WR4 given his talent and upside. Muhammad is a rock-solid bench guy who I can spot start if needed. I probably should have taken a QB a little earlier but Cutler should be solid at least. Cooley is a decent TE but I really wanted Olsen and was bummed I didn't get him.
On the down side, I wish my RBs were stronger in terms of depth. The talent went off the board quickly after I got Grant, though, and I wasn't going to reach. I was targeting Felix Jones as my RB3 and if I had gotten him I would be doing cartwheels but I missed him by a few picks. Hopefully Charles will give me Kevin Faulk-esque production and enable my RB depth to be stronger than it appears now. I did lock up the Eagles starting RB situation so I'm in great shape there.
So overall, I think this is a good foundation. This is a tough league but as I've said before it's one I really want to win. Let me know your thoughts and I'll be happy to comment.
