Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson?

Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson?

Okay, if you're watching the combine coverage, Calvin Johnson's hype is growing by leaps and bounds. He looks to be a difference maker, a game changer, ala T.O. without the attitude.

Oakland MUST take a QB.
God help Detroit if they take another Wide receiver.

That leaves the decision squarely on the Browns. I know conventional thinking has Peterson going to Cleveland, but I'm not so sure.

Would Cleveland be better served by taking Calvin Johnson over Adrian Peterson?

I mean, with Braylon, Calvin and Winslow, couldn't they nab hometown boy Antonio Pittman in the 2nd?

That would give Frye no excuses whatsoever.

I mean, I understand that Peterson is a home run, but haven't the last couple of years proven that RBs produce as part of a system, not talent alone?

Cleveland has to take Peterson. Why go with another WR when you have no running game? Do you want to risk passing up on Peterson with the intent of Pittman being there 30+ picks later? I'd go Peterson without a doubt.

Should be a fun topic.

I would agree that Peterson should be taken by Cleveland.

If he is taken by them, does not sign Rosenhaus and reports to camp on time, where would you expect him to go in the NFFC?

Cadillac (a great talent) had a fine first season and ended up 18th. I'd say that is his upside in Cleveland year one.

Being in Cleveland, I can't see him putting up 1st or 2nd round numbers. Now, if this were a keeper league, that's another story. In the NFFC, I see him going late 3rd to early 4th.

Calvin Johnson is a walk on the field difference maker. Cleveland needs to focus on an o-line that can block somebody/anybody before they expect much from any RB IMO

Scott brings up a great point with the Edwards/Winslow/Johnson threat.

Johnson can step into the T.O....R.Moss "in his prime" freak catagory. That kind of player can change a franchise.

Is Peterson drawing comparisons to LT...LJ...SA or even Gore or Westbrook?

On a position comparison only...Johnson is the hands down winner and I'll bet he's in Cleveland in 2007 unless they trade the pick.

How many teams are truly successful with no running game? This is why I believe Peterson will be in Cleveland. In order for a passing game to be successful, you need to have a solid running game to go along with it.

I agree that Cleveland needs all sorts of help including the O-line. Wouldn't it interesting if they could make some big trade for the #3?

I don't think anyone would trade up to draft Peterson but what about Atlanta trading up to draft Johnson?

W.Dunn along with a 1st and 4th...hmmmm.
Probably won't happen but I like this subject. It's alot like FF drafting as far as the speculation part goes.

The Pats could offer alot and have the cap room to sign a top 3 pick but that seems unlikely given their recent history of playing it close to the vest.

What about the Bears shipping T.Jones and draft picks to move up?

Alot of scenerios are possible. The nice thing for Cleveland is even if they blow the high pick....they'll get another shot at the 2008 draft. :D

Some good "spec" you got going there Route C.

What about the Raiders. Everyone thinks they
know what Oak-town will do, but what SHOULD they
do (if they were not run by a corpse and a
teenage head-coach)? Maybe this:

-Trade Moss Or Jerry Porter (maybe both)

-Trade for exp Qb David Carr (a Calif boy
who needs change of scenery.)

-Draft Calvin Johnson #1.

I see 3-13 again with the path they're on. Moss,
Porter, Lamont all of diff timetables than new
stud QB. More misery on way. Maybe 6 wins by '09.

I have the first pick in the Rob Bennetti supplemental draft in August. We couldn't draft rookies in the first draft, so everyone's info here will help me with my decision.
