Jeff, just let it play out and we'll see what happens. When Wayne goes to Vegas, I figure my chances just improved by 7% and yours by 3.5%.... :D :D :D :D funny stuff.

I'm just one person. Chicago has been losing folks for years. You just need to try Vegas sometime and it doesn't matter if you play in 1 league or twelve.

It's a 5.5 hour drive to Chicago and its a 6 hour flight out of my home town to Vegas. It costs $300 for a plane ticket to Vegas and I split a room last year in Vegas and my cost was less than $20 per night.

Going to Chicago it's about $100/night hotel and $100 in gas. What I"m saying is that there isn't much difference in cost. It's just hard taking off work two weekends in a row. And then when I do I'm really rushed as I fly into Vegas at the last possible minute and leave early.

I'll really miss Chicago but Vegas is a great time too.

Wayne I understand what you're saying Wayne. My point is if the same venue was available in Chicago wouldn't you stay put!

[/QUOTE]Jeff,

I thought the food in Chicago was EXCELLENT last year, and I don't think that Vegas was serving better food.

I guess what I am saying is that you can't turn Chicago into Vegas. Vegas has casinos (in every hotel), 10x the entertainment, betting on NFL games, etc. Also you are IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL. In Chicago, we are always drafting in a suburb, and never sniff the city (which I totally understand it would cost A LOT to hold these drafts downtown near Michigan Ave, etc.)

Vegas also has one other (actually probably 2 now) high stakes contests that some people play in.

If there are leagues to play in, I will come to Chicago the first weekend, but I can't see how it is cost effective to run 2.5 Classic leagues each and every year. I love the people in Chicago and you can't get Lou Malnatis in Vegas :( , but it doesn't make sense to fly out there for one or two leagues.

Due to the fact that I am one of the people that play in both events, I will DEFINITELY be in Vegas the 2nd weekend.

I would hope to see Chicago survive, but there are only a few of us "diehards" that have kept it going. Based on the last few years, numbers have dwindled each and every year. :(

Greg, I wasn't able to go to Chicago last year for personal reasons (after 6 straight years), but will be back this year for auction and DC whichever weekend/day it is held. I'm not sure about Classic at this time. Would like to do it if have $. I enjoy drafting live and 5 hour drive is worth it to me.

I understand Jeff's frustration, but I certainly understand where everyone else is coming from. NOBODY ELSE is running regional drafts right now and that's because the Internet provides an easy way to still compete. I believe it still makes sense for us to host regional drafts in the Midwest and New York, but as Billy has duly noted it's getting tougher and tougher from a cost perspective to make it work. We're finding out the same thing in baseball right now as Chicago once again is lagging behind all other cities. And that's during a season when we will sell out sooner than ever.

I have to guarantee the food minimums and rental space on the East Coast and all the rest, so trust me, it's no fun to lose any city. We ran into the same decision making in Orlando and Tampa when 3 leagues didn't justify the costs. Chicago is our home city and I'd hate to lose it for any sport, but when we have Chicago folks drafting Online rather than at the Hyatt Regency it tells me something.

I have every intention of staying in Chicago for football and I would hope that going away from Labor Day weekend would make it more accessible for more Midwest folks. We need to see if the Second Weekend does. We'll definitely lose some veterans and maybe we find out the hard way, but we're not ready to give up on the Windy City just yet.

As for the Auctions and DCs this year, I think we will go back to complete private leagues and keep all of the money within those leagues. The overall championship didn't generate the buzz that it's doing in baseball and keeping all of the money within the league is almost where we were last year. We'll discuss that soon, but that's my thinking now.

If that is the case, and I am forced to choose between competing time slots or leagues between NFFC and FFPC during the second weekend, chances are high I will not be choosing NFFC. I'm just being honest. This is definitely going to be a factor for me as well, Jack.

What I do like is the tentative schedule that Greg put out as it has LOTS of options, and the fact of the matter is I may be drafting 3 leagues on Friday and 3 more on Saturday.

While I will be in some live FFPC leagues (love the VP auctions), I can tell you if I choose 2 "main events" to play this year, they won't begin with an "F". ;)

Obviously many people enjoy the 11 week season and H2H playoff system as they have been very successful with that, but I simply want more "bang for my buck". :D

Looking forward to getting SIGNUPS going for both of these events......time to start lookikng at flights! :D
