Tips For Drafting NFFC Online

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Aug 30, 2011 2:03 am

Okay, we have a TON of Online drafts coming up over the next 10 days and I just thought it would make sense to create a thread with some online drafting tips. We've had very few problems this season, but this can't hurt at all. Here you go:

** Don't Be Late: It doesn't hurt to get in the draft room early, Chat with the group and introduce yourself. It also helps us while we run multiple online drafts at once. Some of our NFFC veterans like to jump into the room late, but if you can come early, that would help.

** Set Draft Prep If You'd Like: You do have a chance to change the player default listing you'll see online if you'd like. Just click on Draft Prep and move players up, down or around. That's how they will show up in your draft room.

** Enter Draft Room: The Draft Room is available the day of the draft. You can enter then.

** Use Flash version if you can. Your computer should have Flash and if not you can download it in a minute. There are two draft room versions: Flash and HTML. Use Flash if you can.

** Draft Board. All online drafts have a draft board with colored position stickers and they pop onto the board once the player is picked. There is a link under DRAFT and in the draft room to click open the draft board in a separate window. Keep both windows open, but remember the clock is in the draft room. Don't focus just on the board and lose track of time.

It's Your Pick. There is a sound to alert you when it's your time to pick. Keep the volume up if you want that.

TWO DRAFT BUTTONS. 95% of any problems we have is with folks clicking on the wrong draft button. There is a DRAFT button above the player default list and you use that one for those picks when the player is highlighted. The player you highlighted comes up at the top and you hit that DRAFT button to take him. The second DRAFT button is directly under your que and just for players in your que. You have to highlight the player in your Que and use that DRAFT button. Please be aware of both buttons.

Use Help Button IMMEDIATELY. Don't type in the chat if you have a problem. Hit the HELP button and we'll be alerted immedately. That's the fastest way to have us stop the draft if needed. Hopefully we won't need it.

Have Picks Ready. Don't time out if you can help it. We have 75 seconds per pick, which is plenty of time, but don't wait until the last second. You just never know.

That's about it. Each draft will have a moderator and will post a number to call for help. Thanks all and good luck.

How long prior to the online draft will the draft room be open? Also, is there a mock draft site available to check computer compatibility?
