Snake Is On A Four-Week Break

Post by Tom Kessenich » Mon Nov 15, 2010 10:22 am

I wanted everyone to know that Greg and I have contacted Glenn and told him that he is on a four-week hiatus from the boards. The reasons why are obvious and we don't need to lay them all out here. Perhaps this is something we should have done sooner but it's been done now. We have tried repeatedly to reason with Glenn and ask for the simplest of requests but he has ignored all of them. So we believe this is the only option left for us at the present time. Greg and I want to reclaim our boards and make them something the entire NFFC community can enjoy instead of having one voice dominate every discussion.

No one needs to come into this thread and bash Glenn or anything of that nature. So let's avoid going down that road. If after one month Glenn believes he can interact more positively here we'll review his status at that time. But given the impact his presence has had on these boards and our event we believed we should let people know what was going on.

Snake Is On A Four-Week Break

I don't take what Tom and I did today lightly. I have continually allowed our users to police the boards themselves and to conduct themselves professionally. But there comes a time when you just have to say enough is enough and grab your neighborhood back.

If Glenn really thinks this is a Chum-Chum Club then there's no use debating with him anymore. What this is, Glenn, is a COMMUNITY. And all communities are diverse. People learn to get along and treat others the way they want to be treated. In communities we learn to get along and treat each other with respect. If someone is out of line, hopefully the community can rally together and bring that person back in.

Tom and I have enough to worry about without policing the boards day and night. We are active on these boards because we LIKE the community and the conversation. But even we've been quieter this year than past years because it's just too much. You can see the boards being overly dominated and threads hijacked for personal game. Now it's time to return the boards back to 99.9% of our users and see if sanity can return. If it doesn't, then we'll admit our mistake and move on. But I trust we'll see some old guards on the boards again and more fluent discussions.

Two years ago we asked Glenn to be more thoughtful and less dominating. We even banned his SNAKE monitor and he returned as another poster. We banned that one and he returned as GK. He agreed to a two-week hiatus and a promise to return without the personal attacks. We gave him every chance to be professional and to let the thoughts and posts flow with input from others. He just wouldn't have any part of it.

So now we're the bad guys. Well, so be it.

I'm going to take back our NFFC boards and NFBC boards and those who have over-run them have been notified that this won't be allowed again. The contest is the main focus of every high-stakes game, but at the end of the day the message boards bring the community together as one. We want that to return here.

Sorry Glenn, but you gave us no other choice. Good luck to your teams going forward and let's see where the boards go from here. Hopefully they return to good, open discussions.

Not a personal attack at all (so sleep well)...
I said the comparison was idiotic.

You insulting Greg and Tom and throwing the 1st amendment around isn't right.

So just to be clear, because someone pays $1400 they can do whatever they want??? That is what it sure sounds like.

Oh and by the way the privilege has a $1400 fee attached to it. An idiot, you must be a real tough guy. Don't know if I will sleep tonight. Don't think you'd need to pay the $1400 to be called an idiot, could probably get that for free.

i dont think we should be insulting each other here. fact of the matter i consider snake and billy both my friends and would be happy to chill anytime with them. thats the truth. snake is under alot of pressure that nobody would want any part of if they have kids. does snake go a little off the wall at times ...yes but sometimes i feel it is because he needs to vent because of the problems he is having at home. so like tom said lets not kick a guy when he is down. tom has ended threads when fanball was being bashed so maybe he should end this thread so as to not kick a guy when he is down. whats done is done guys. move on and have fun with fantasy football.

Frank,

I don't think anyone has said one thing about Snake here. I simply didn't like RoadKing's response. I don't know how long he has been around, but I got a feeling he doesn't know the whole picture.

In all honesty, it doesn't matter what ANY of us think, as "what's done is done here", and the people in charge made the decision.

Hopefully this next month is a "resurgence" on the MB, with good football talk, etc.,

When Snake returns, hopefully he can understand why this decision was made, and he can join in and help make these boards better as well. :D

no question billy. roadking comments was not worded right. it was more of a 'i will fight you in back of the school' type. i can see how it might be taken wrong. lets not bash anybody here on this thread. like i said tom has ended threads as soon as fanball or ryan got bashed so maybe this should get locked also. whats done is done and move on.

The last thing I want from this thread is a new fight in the playground. The announcement was made because I've never had more emails about one person in one day than today when I asked Glenn to allow threads to flow without his constant input. This is not an isolated subject; this has been festering for years and sometimes you have to address it. I addressed it two years ago and the SNAKE monitor disappeared. Now GK isn't much different.

Heck, even my kids need a timeout. Let's get back to football talk on the boards and move past these petty feuds. You can just see that the vast majority of folks just want to talk about football and playoff chances and NFL races. What's so hard about that? Let's move on and see if we can do that the rest of the week.

It's only a slippery slope when you're at the bottom, which is where I feel these boards are. Folks know that it's time to grow up and act humanely here. Again, treat others like you'd like to be treated. And if we can do that hopefully we can get these boards back to what they were years ago before all this B.S. took over.
