Yes, but first you have to qualify for the bye, by getting past Schroter and Schroeder and Berall and Miller and Clein and Alexander and Particelli and Zeid and Schecter. How do you suggest those you're trying recruit accomplish that? Particelli is the definition of dead money. It would be easier if just gave everyone else a few hundred bucks at the start of the draft.

I'd consider this league, but 1pm on the Sunday of a holiday weekend? After already being away at NFFC drafts both Friday & Saturday? I can't afford a divorce right now.

Though it is true having Particelli's dead money in the league is tempting.

As I told a few people this week, the chance to secure a Week 14 bye in the Ultimate league is an incredible perk. It's happened to all of us -- a great regular season, then one trip-up in Weeks 14, 15 or 16 and your season is over. Getting that Week 14 bye gives you an out, and it's almost more valuable than the $5,000 or even $10,000 you can win in the regular season. Glen, you drafting in NY or over the phone?
Drafting from home -- kind of a tradition.
Here's another tradition: "Did Randy Moss die? No? Okay, I'll take Vernon Davis!!" :D Ahhhh, great memories my friend. :D
How funny that the exact situation may present itself AGAIN this year. Same team, same position -- some Hispanic guy named Ochosomethingorother.

So, what is our deadline for deciding whether this league is going forward? I need to know in the next 10 days so I can think about other options for donating my money.

SOLD OUT: THE NFFC Ultimate League

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:43 am

Okay, the 14-Team NFFC Ultimate League set for Sunday, Sept. 4th at 10 am PT/1 pm ET has hit the proverbial wall with new signups. After contacting everyone who was on the list earlier this month, we're officially down to eight spots filled. Garrett Lerner, a past NFFC Ultimate League member, is signed up for the 10 am Super League and would do the Ultimate if needed. Gino Yu also is very interested in the Ultimate League. So it's possible we're at 10 guys, leaving us with four spots left and maybe more.

So here's what we need to do for the next week. I'd definitely like to have a better plan of attack by this time next week and we haven't missed an Ultimate League since 2005, so we'll definitely keep pushing and I'll keep calling. I want to fill this league with 14 owners and I know our guys want to fill this with a full league.

But let's at least discuss the possibility of making this a Super League if we don't fill an Ultimate League. There's so much demand for Supers that I'll just ask right now to see if anyone would do a Super instead of an Ultimate at this time on Sunday, Sept. 4th. I'd obviously have to ask the 8 folks already signed up, but at the very worst let's play at $2500 per team rather than nothing at all.

Okay, so here's the current signup list for the NFFC Ultimate League:

NFFC ULTIMATE LEAGUE
Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, 1 PM ET/10 AM PT
1. Peter Berall, Montreal, Quebec (NY)
2. Glenn Schroter, Whitestone, New York
3. Larry Schechter, Rexford, New York (NY)
4. Chad Schroeder, Omaha, Nebraska
5. Paul Clein, Germantown, Tennessee
6. Asa Alexander, Pennsylvania
7. Bob Particelli, Berwyn, Pennsylvania
8. Brian Zeid, Aurora, Ohio (P)
tentative: Garrett Lerner (would prefer a Super)
tentative: Gino Yu (will know more soon)

If you can't do an Ultimate League but would do a Super League at this time, just post your desire for that on this thread and we'll make the call next Friday. Sound good? Thanks all and hopefully this works out for everyone.

Personally, I would be incredibly disappointed if this turned into a Super league.

Could we keep the Ultimate rules but change the entry fee to $2,500?

Could we keep the Ultimate rules but change the entry fee to $2,500? Yeah, we can make this according to the Ultimate Rules. I want these rules too and a $5,000 entry fee and we still might get there. Gino is very interested and Garrett is too. I've also gotten a few calls today from big hitters who are looking for more contests, albeit on the second weekend. We just have to push outside of last year's list because those Ultimate teams from 2010 have already said no.

But this is a solid idea. Let's fill it up without going there!!

How about a 12-team ultimate with similar (but modified) rules?

Hopefully we have a lot of new folks looking for a high-stakes private league that pays out 90 percent and can be done in Las Vegas or from home. This is the one.

While debating to participate in this league, I've looked over the rules. Why would a league play head to head all year and then not evenly distribute the playoff positions accordingly. You have very little chance of getting in via H2H unless you dominate and finish first in that format. I remember this from last year and (to me) it makes no sense. I already know what the dominating players will say, I'm interested in hearing from Greg.

Thanks.
Joe
