SOLD OUT: THE NFFC Ultimate League

You have very little chance of getting in via H2H unless you dominate and finish first in that format. I remember this from last year and (to me) it makes no sense. I already know what the dominating players will say, I'm interested in hearing from Greg.

Thanks. Because at this price point Joe you want the very best teams making the playoffs and h2h record is not the best evaluation of the best teams in a league. Head-to-head means you were fortunate to beat teams you were matched up against that week and we do value that in picking the playoff teams. But Total Points over 13 weeks is a better indicator of the more qualified playoff team because over 13 weeks that team has proven to be better than the others by consistently scoring more points than the others.

I weighed h2h more heavily in the early years of the NFFC and I was proven wrong. Total Points is a stronger indicator of the best teams. And while I try to weigh both into the qualification of playoff qualifiers here at $5,000 per team, those teams scoring the most points over 13 weeks deserve the majority of the playoff spots, not h2h qualifiers.

I may be wrong, but that's why we do it Joe.

[/QUOTE]Thanks Greg, that makes sense. I'd be in favor of a straight points league like baseball. In my mind if you award equally for the regular season between points and h2h then playoff spots should be awarded the same. I do absolutely agree though that you want the best teams making the playoffs.
Joe

Okay, Garrett Lerner will do the Ultimate League this year because his flight out of Las Vegas is early on Sunday afternoon so he can't do the 2 pm PT Super League. He's been in this league in the past and really wants this one to go off. He's in for sure. I talked with Gino yesterday and he's leaning this way, too. So if that happens then we just have FOUR SPOTS LEFT!!!

We have two weeks to get this done. I think we can do it. Let's call around and see if it works out. Here's the list right now and we need four more to make it a go. Thanks all.

This baby is gonna fill soon... We have one owner from the Super who would move up to the Ultimate if we get to 13. Okay, so now we're getting closer. Who wants to help us get it over the goal-line?!! :D The Ultimate League must remain!!! :D Thanks all.

Okay, we need to focus on this league as well. The Ultimate League is one of our toughest competitions around with one of our best payouts, 90% within the league. We have 11 owners committed to this league and two owners almost ready to jump in. If we get one more signup, I think we can get to 14. I'd love to pick these draft spots and announce them on Sunday, but we're not there yet. If we get one more owner, I think we can fill this up.

Contact me at [email protected] or at 715-254-5553 if you have any interest. Thanks all and I'm going to do all I can to get this one filled. I love this league and this format and I'd love to fill it up for a seventh straight season. Thanks.

SOLD OUT: THE NFFC Ultimate League

Wow, what a great surprise tonight to hear from NFFC Charter Member Will Robertson of Sparta, New Jersey. Will and Pete Lukowicz teamed up in the debut season of the NFBC and then followed us to football. Will won an NFFC league title two years ago, finished sixth overall in the Classic and likes the 14-team format, but the draft on Labor Day weekend has always been a problem. But he likes the idea of hooking up with me on the phone in Las Vegas and loves this payout structure. He jumped into the Ultimate League tonight and honestly I think we're now just one spot away from a full league. We have one owner already in a Super League who will upgrade if we get to 13 owners. So we're close, very close.

Here's the current signup list. I also need to confirm with Gino, who may need a tax writeoff after he's done this baseball season!! :D He's having a monster year over there and is still checking his work schedule, but he wants to do this one, too. So we're at 11 going on 14 right now!!

If you have any desire to grab this last spot, you could start the domino effect to get us to 14. I think we'll get there either way, but now we're really close. Thanks Will. I didn't expect it, but I'm glad you hollered tonight. Now let's complete the lineup card. Here's what we have so far:

NFFC ULTIMATE LEAGUE
Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, 1 PM ET/10 AM PT
1. Peter Berall, Montreal, Quebec
2. Glenn Schroter, Whitestone, New York
3. Joe Miller, Miami, Florida
4. Chad Schroeder, Omaha, Nebraska
5. Paul Clein, Germantown, Tennessee
6. Asa Alexander, Pennsylvania
7. Bob Particelli, Berwyn, Pennsylvania
8. Brian Zeid, Aurora, Ohio (P)
9. Garrett Lerner, Oak Park, California
10. Frank Heron, Davie, Florida
11. Will Robertson, Sparta, New Jersey
12. Gino Yu, Torrance, California (tentative)
