YTD ADP & Actual Positional Ranks

Aroma continues to place himself completely in the doghouse and you can assume he may not see much of the field anytime soon. His recent quotes locally show he doesn't get it and when you say well the coaches make mistakes too, it isn't a quick way back into their good graces imo.

Bennett seems more trusted but he's still the same guy he was when locally everyone was raving about Aromo and how Bennett might be on the roster bubble. I personally avoided both and still am skeptical that either will help anyone EVEN if Knox or Hester went down with injury...just my .02.

No big surprise that you have Knox on more teams than Aromashodu. They're hardly comparable nor were they even at drafts. It took a few months for their draft positions to flip-flop and even as the preseason progressed, people still held out hope as they overdrafted Aromashodu with the hope of him reliving the mirage of last seasons Vikings game.

Frank, it was hard for many to select Knox in drafts over Aromashodu. If Mike makes his statement above in June, people would've laughed their a$$ off......sorta like my response to the challenge he faced in drafts debating between Aromashodu and Bennett

Thanks Frank. I figured it was worth the effort if I could make it easy to update the stats each week and get the ADP/Actual auto-updated. No way I'd wanna do the whole thing from scratch each week. . If any Excel jockeys out there wanna see the magic behind the curtain, let me know and I'll post the raw Excel file. Mike, I'd like to see that file.

YTD ADP & Actual Positional Ranks

Here's the Excel spreadsheet for those interested.

Just a couple notes. I didn't make this to necessarily release for public editing, so it's not really as user-friendly as it could be (i.e. with some more effort, I could probably use more formulas and/or macros on the ADP & Actual tab to cut out a few keystrokes).

But seeing I plan to update and post this each week and I'm pretty comfortable w/ Excel, here's what I'll do each week:

1. Copy and paste the latest YTD stats into each positional tab. (I use Sportsline because they paste cleaner, but the NFL stats should match what the NFFC has.) Then sort those from highest to lowest by the NFFC column.

2. Copy the top 20 players (the Names column only, not the stats) from each positional tab over to some white space in the ADP & Actual tab.

3. Select the 20 players just pasted and on the Excel menu, use Data/Text to Columns to separate the player names from their teams (also specifying the comma as a delimiter).

4. Cut and paste the separated names/teams over the appropriate cells in the positional chart on the ADP & Actual tab, preserving the formatting of the destination cells. (To do this, use Paste Special, then select Formulas and number formats.)

5. Save the spreadsheet, then Save As, and save it as an HTML file. This creates a .htm version of the file, as well as a folder (by the same name as the spreadsheet file) that contains supporting data (i.e. for each tab).

6. Upload the .htm file and the supporting folder to my webspace on Cox and create a new thread here on the message boards with a link to the .htm file.

It might sound complicated, but I really think this will take me about 10 minutes to update each week.

This is some pretty basic Excel stuff. You should see the one we use for our draft sheets! We're talking close to 20 tabs, all for the purpose of bringing together on one tab (per position): For each player, their ADP, projected points (ours and Rotoworld's), color-shaded strength of schedule (regular season and playoff ranking #s), comments, and a cell for us to provide our own personal ranking number (which is then used to re-sort the players after we've modified). Excel Conditional Formatting is applied to the Rating column values to highlight the breaks in our tiers.

To each their own, but this works for us.

ADP & Actual Positional Ranks Through 4 Games

Of course, now with the bye weeks, using Total Points to rank the players isn't quite accurate. But the site I paste the stats from doesn't have Games Played as a column, and I don't feel like coding more formulas to try to derive it. So, once we get through the byes, it'll be more indicative.
