Sorry about your problem, Quahogs. At some point, I guess I am just going to have to resign to the fact that you just don't have the IQ to respond to my words. Keep trying in life though...you can do it!

blue_foot,

I have not kept track of all you have said on this board. I do remember you flat our calling the guys who run this event out on their integrity regarding the draft. I see you posted here making a comment about how everyone being "sensitive about challenges to those running the league..." Have you challanged them outside of your intial accusation about flat out cheating with draft positions? Something you later apologized for...

The reason many here defend those who run this event is because it is an amazing event with very hands on accessible leadership. I could be wrong about this but when I looked at the roster of this weeks high scoring team I saw many eagles. This made me think he likely is an Eagles fan. That might have something to do with the Ryan Moats autographed prize.

RotoPlay Wins Week 5 Prize

It isn’t often a fantasy football owner can make an egregious mistake and still come out a winner that week. But for Korey Gardner, not only did he manage to avoid catastrophe in the NFFC last week he topped the entire event’s field in the process.

“I had no business winning the weekly pool this week as I committed the cardinal fantasy sin of sitting my first-round pick – Edgerrin James – and starting Vernand Morency,” Gardner said. “On paper, it looked like a wise decision but that was just stupid.”

Thanks to a huge week from the Philadelphia Eagles, though, Gardner’s mistake didn’t come back to hurt him.

Donovan McNabb (34.8 points), the Eagles defense (23) and Reggie Brown (17.9) all stepped up with big weeks to lead Gardner’s RotoPlay team in New York League 7 to the top spot in the NFFC last week with 158.70 points.

Greg Jennings (21.5) and Frank Gore (18.7) also delivered strong production.

McNabb has been a fantasy monster so far this season and Gardner has happily reaped the benefits. However, he said taking an elite quarterback was not one of his Draft Day priorities.

“My strategy going into the draft was to draft three running backs in the first three rounds, then wide receivers and a tight end with the next four picks,” said Gardner, who is married with three children and lives in Hershey, PA. “I was not planning on taking a quarterback until Round 8 or later.

“I did get three running backs with the first three picks – Edgerrin James, Kevin Jones and Frank Gore. Well, in Round 5 I was surprised to see Donovan McNabb coming up my way and I jumped at the chance to take him when he fell. I’m a huge Eagles fan and Andy Reid loves to throw the ball so I took him expecting him to have a bounce back season.

“I admit, however, that I never expected this type of production from him.”

Gardner has been a part of the fantasy industry for several years as the owner of RotoPlay.com. However, despite being an industry “expert,” he has a firm belief that fantasy football success derives from a less tangible aspect.

“I’m of the belief that fantasy football is much more luck than skill,” he said. “Most of the guys and girls in the NFFC know who all the players are so staying injury free and catching a break with a middle-round player – like Greg Jennings, who I got in Round 10, who outperforms their draft position goes a long way in doing well.

“I’m lucky McNabb is having a great year and I was lucky in that I was fully expecting to take LaMont Jordan with the ninth pick but he was drafted in front of me and I ended up with James, who has been the better player so far.”

Gentlemen...thanks for the congratulations. It is very much appreciated. I do not write on the board often but I do read frequently and get much entertainment reading the posts from everyone.

If anything, I should be getting busted on for sitting James this past week in favor of Morency. Boy, what a stupid decision that was. It was a classic "overmanaging" moment and trying to be an all-star.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to competing against everyone the rest of the year. I know my league has some very good teams so it will be a battle to the end. Good luck to everyone the rest of the way.

Korey

Ps. Being a huge Eagles fan, I guess its only fitting that it went to someone who is actually thrilled to have the Ryan Moats prize. He will blend in nicely in my "Eagles" room at home.

Korey,

Congrats and the decisions do not get any easier as James gets Da Bears on Monday night. Will you be starting him again?

I dont think your benching of JAMES for Morencey WAS A HORRIBLE move.IM not sure but JAMES didnt score again , and the Packers running game did do well, you had the right idea just the wrong guy.Anyways im thinking of doing the same thing this week benching BOLDIN againest the BEARS, AND IF YOU HAVE another option over JAMES i would consier it, hes not scoring againest the BEARS. GOOD LUCK

Yes, I will be starting James this week by default. Everybody else is on bye. You never know when a RB will get the 1-yard TD plunge, even against the best D.

As far as Morency, I guess if he didn't put the ball on the ground twice in the 1Q, it would have been him instead of Herron continuing to get the carries. Needless to say, my brother and brother in law had a good time at my expense Sunday. I must have heard 10 times. "How could you start Morency over James".

Hey Corey. Congrats on the high-week.

I'm also a McNabb owner, born and raised in South Philly, so you KNOW where my allegiances are, but I have a funny one for you.

Last year I won a high-week prize. Fantastic, right? Not really. What made me complete my scoring barrage was having the Seattle D on that ugly, ugly Monday Night Game at the Linc last year.

I'm sure you remember that one...42-0...OUCH!!!

Rotoplay,

I am very glad to hear that you are an Eagle's fan. That does make the prize better. But, I am still pushing the claim that you should get at least a McNabb autographed helmet (you can still keep the Moats photo for your Eagle's shrine).

Take care and congrats!
